Tower Poetry November 2015

Wonder

The 2016 Christopher Tower poetry competition is now open

News

Dear Tower Poetry Reader,

Do come, if you can, to the PN Review Lecture which will mark the 2015 relaunch of PN Review. Introduced by Michael Schmidt (who is the founder and editorial and managing director of Carcanet Press Limited, the general editor of PN Review, and Professor of Poetry at the University of Glasgow) Peter McDonald (Director of Tower Poetry and Professor of British and Irish Poetry, and Christopher Tower Student and Tutor in Poetry in the English Language, at Christ Church) will give a lecture entitled ‘The Quarrel with Ourselves’: Poetry and Criticism' on Friday, 27 November at 5:30pm, Blue Boar Lecture Theatre, Christ Church, University of Oxford. Wine/refreshments afterwards: all are welcome.

Angela Leighton is our latest Featured Poet - she says that 'Canticles for a Passion', something between a meditation and a libretto, came to her just after finishing the memoir/ short story section of her new volume, Spills.

The 2016 Tower Poetry competition is launched. This year's judges are Alan Gillis, Katherine Rundell and Peter McDonald. The theme is 'Wonder' - full details of the competition are available and A3 and A4 posters have now been sent to all UK schools - if you would like more copies please email the Tower Poetry office. Entry forms are downloadable from the website and, for the first time, entry can be made online (or by post). Do look at the interview between last year's judges, Helen Mort and Ian McMillan, on our newly redesigned website.

Very best wishes

from all at Tower Poetry
