Band to perform in MLK holiday parade

The Carrollton Trojan Band will participate in the 20th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade in downtown Carrollton Monday. The parade starts at 11 a.m.

Carrollton City Schools will be closed in observance of the holiday on Monday. Students return Tuesday.

2016-2017 school
calendar proposed

On Jan. 12, the Carrollton Board of Education approved a proposed school calendar for 2016-2017. The tentative approval allows for a month of public review and opportunity for comment before final adoption, expected in February.

Girls soccer tryouts
next Tuesday

Soccer t ryouts for eighth grade girls start Tuesday, Jan. 19, from 3:45 - 6:00. Meet at the Baseball Field House. You MUST have a Physical as well as an Athletic Release to try out.

Builders Club
to meet Jan. 22

The CJHS Builders Club will hold its next meeting Friday, Jan. 22, from 3 to 3:30 in Mrs. Stallings' room, #504.

Junior Beta Club
meetings Jan. 25-26

The meeting schedule for the next Junior Beta meetings is as follows: Seventh grade, Monday, Jan. 25, at 7 a.m; eighth grade, Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 7 a.m. Both meetings will be held in Ms. Driver's classroom.


Academic Bowl Team
places high in tourney

The Carrollton Junior High Academic Bowl Team traveledto East Coweta Middle School Monday and brought home a second place trophy. Captain Edward Bohannon led the best effort of the year against a field of 11 other teams. 

Team members include Willow Huett, Thomas Svegle, Patrick Berzsenyi, Tucker Sullivan, Cirel Gourley, Natalie Davis, John Robert Ray, Curtis Chandler, Zaccary Priest, Joseph Snipes and Eli Nunez. 

Earlier this school year the team placed third against a field of 15 teams at Bremen Middle School. The team is coached by Shawn Lawrence. Congratulations!
Operation Gratitude
is now under way

Trojan University has officially kicked off its service project, Operation Gratitude. Students and staff at all schools are asked to help with this cause.

Items will be collected, packaged and sent off to be placed in supply boxes for troops and veterans.

Items to be collected are are socks (not white), pens, travel-sized board games, packs of lip balm, individual packs of moist towelettes, crossword and sudoku puzzle books, jigsaw puzzles (in small boxes) and DVDs.

Info meeting for 2017
spring break trip Tuesday

The 24th Annual Spring Break Trip to England & Scotland in 2017 will have another informational meeting for those interested in joining the trip. The meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 6 p.m. in the CJHS media center.

Parent survey to support
school improvement

Carrollton City schools are participating in the Georgia Parent Survey program and need your help. The survey contains only 24 questions. 

All survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for school climate analysis.
