March 2015
Spring is Coming! (Really)
We're in the home stretch of the 2014-1015 season!  In this newsletter, there is a reminder about the Board outreach program, a workshop announcement, an update on the New England Regional Festival (NERF), and a reminder about AACTFest in June.
Board News: Invite the Board to Visit!

The Board of Directors would like to visit with your Board of Directors to ask you what services you would like to see EMACT offer and get feedback on current services like DASH and the Festival.  If you would like to have one of the Board members visit your group, please email the President, Jean McFarland, to let her know. Specify at least two upcoming dates and we'll get someone to visit!

Theater Photography Workshops by Jon Sachs
Sponsored by Quannapowitt Players

Workshop 1
March 15 3:30 pm to 10:00 pm
You will attend the dress rehearsal for Of Mice and Men at Quannapowitt Players on March 15 but also attend a special session the same night and watch Jon handle all of the post production, from picking the best shots, to adjusting color, exposure, and cropping, to printing them out. In addition, we will create custom QP branded headshots for all the actors.
(While this is not intended to be a workshop on learning about how RAW image workflow with Lightroom works, if you are curious about that, this might be worth attending just for an overview of RAW and Lightroom.)
Workshop 1 will accept 25 students. This two-night workshop is $20. You can pay at the door.

Workshop 2
March 17-18 7 pm to pm
On Tuesday night, up to 6 workshop registrants will take turns photographing another rehearsal of
Of Mice and Men. Then on Wednesday night, each participant will do their own post-processing in Lightroom, under my tutelage. You will need Lightroom, which you can download for free from Adobe for 30 days. If you have not used it, it would be best to download ahead of time, and maybe watch the Lynda.com training videos as well, for $25.
An interchangeable-lens DSLR camera is best for this sort of work, followed by a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, followed by high-end point and shoot with zoom. But the ability to shoot in RAW format is critical. The workshop will leverage the advantages of RAW, as well as the issues.
Workshop 2 will accept just 6 students. This hands-on two-night workshop is $95. You can pay at the door.

Please go to http://jonathansachs.com/theater-photography-workshops-march-15-18-2015 5 to reserve your slot for either or both of the theater photography workshops. Both workshops will be held at Quannapowitt Players, 55 Hopkins St., Reading, MA 01867.
