Pathogens, pests, and climate change are biological risks that conveniently ignore property boundaries and jurisdictions. Presente rs will include practitioners and researchers addressing strategies for adapting to changing conditions, not just observing them. Advanced registration is required. An early registration fee of $65 will be charged to cover materials, supplies and catering. The fee increases to $95 beginning January 31st. 
Project Learning Tree K-8 Workshop

Interested in teaching kids about the natural world?  Project Learning Tree (PLT) is an interdisciplinary environmental education program designed for educators of ANY background. The hands-on activities facilitate the exploration of topics including communication, economics, energy and fuels, geology, government, history, recycling, transportation, watersheds, wildlife, and much more! Participants will learn about the materials through direct engagement in the PLT activities throughout the workshop. The workshop will focus on the PLT K-8 Guide and the secondary module, Focus on Forests. There is no charge for this workshop or the materials. 
2016 Arbor Day Celebration

In North Carolina Arbor Day is celebrated on the first Friday after March 15th. Please join us on Saturday March 19th to celebrate North Carolina's trees and all they do for us! This workshop will be presenting: land conservation options for farm and forest owners; details on financial & technical assistance programs -- eligibility, how to apply, requirements, etc.; experiences from farmers and landowners about their conservation and stewardship journeys; opportunity to visit informally with agency representatives. There is no registration fee for the workshop, however advance registration is required so we may adequately plan for lunches and space.

This short course will provide practical knowledge about how lumber is effectively kiln dried and scientific background on related wood properties and processes. It will have value for the beginner as well as experienced kiln operators and with supervisors, sales, and marketing personnel. Instruction, by university faculty and industry experts, will be both in the classroom and through hands-on lab exercises using our 1000 BF steam heated dry kiln.
