What's on Main Street 
  • Santa comes to town: Santa will arrive on Main Street at 5pm. The wagon will be pulled by Clydesdale horses, and he will be joined by Christmas cowgirls, street performers, and the ATV train. 
  • Main Stage: Jessica Whitworth of Country 100.7 will be our hosts for the evening.
  • Twitter Wall: See your tweets scrolling on the big screen at Main Stage. Hashtag #slandlightup
  • The IOOF Hall is hosting their annual Chili Dinner.
  • Ice Carving: One of 2 ice carvers from Ice Decor will be on Main Street carving a Country themed sculpture.  
  • Photo Boards outside Summerland Art Gallery and various locations.
  • Season Sparkles - The 12 Gifts of Christmas at the
  • Warm up station: Enjoy cookies  and a hot drink at Bank of Montreal and Edward Jones.
  • Cider stop: Join the staff of CIBC for a sip of hot apple cider. The fire truck will also be parked next to CIBC, as part of the annual Toys and Toonies for Tots and Teens fundraiser.
  • Bouncy Castle: The 30-foot bouncy fire truck experience will be near Main and Kelly opposite the library and the Dino will be on Main & Victoria.
  • High Striker Game: Children can ring the bell to win a prize. Also, get yourself a blow up guitar for "Christmas Rocks" air guitar fun. 
What's on Victoria Street & Henry

 


 

  • Huge craft event:  Santa's Workshop is the craft event of the night. Get creative with Fat Cat at  Summerland Credit Union .
  • Photos with Santa: Visit the new Summerland Library
     
    to get a photo with Santa for your holiday album.
  • Fajita Cookout: Nesters Market is hosting their annual fajita fiesta. 
  • Ice Carving:  A 4-person sleigh will be created by Nesters.
  • Letters to Santa: Take your little ones to the Post Office where the elves will help them mail their letters to Saint Nick. 
  • "El Diablo", the mechanical bull,  will be located in the post office parking lot. Ride it if you dare!
  • The big IGA party: IGA Summerland will be on Victoria near Main Street for their annual Kabob feast, in support of the Summerland Food Bank.
  • Kids Fish Pond Game hosted by Summerland Kinsmen outside the Summerland Review.
  • Great Christmas displays at Giant's Head Realty and Keller's Cellar.
  • Light-Up at the United Church: The Summerland United Church is hosting an evening of fun crafts, great food and music. Visit their website for more.
What's on in Memorial Park
  • Pony rides: Visit Red Barn Ranch's ponies in their beautifully lit pen near the Band Shell.
  • ATV Train: The Summerland ATV Club is back with this popular ride for kids.

The 2015 Festival of Lights is welcoming several new vendors, so you'll want to save your appetite. W e've got everything from popcorn to bannock, pulled pork to pad thai, gourmet burgers and poutine, gourmet marshmallows to mini donuts and waffles. 
 
Head into the shops and com­mu­nity halls to try things like tra­di­tional Ger­man stollen, home­made chilli, and mac­ n' cheese like you haven't had in years.

Many of our Festi­val of Lights spon­sors are also serv­ing up great food this year:
  • IGA Sum­mer­land: IGA is back with BBQ Kabobs in support of the Summerland Food Bank.
  • True Grain Bread: Join True Grain for the launch of their new hol­i­day assortment, including gingerbread cookies.
  • Nesters Mar­ket: The annual Nesters Fajita cookout is on next to an ice carver. Eat and get a photo on the 4-person sleigh.
Light Up the Vines

Stop in at the Bottleneck Drive tasting room on Victoria at the Summerland Gold & Silver Exchange during Festival of Lights to pick up your touring guide for the 5th Annual Light Up The Vines, November 28th & 29th.

 

The wines will be lit and Bottleneck Drive wineries will be sharing the festive cheer from 3pm-8pm.

 

Stop in for wine tast­ing, special hol­i­day pro­mo­tions, beautifully lit vines, and the all important passport that could win you a prize package value at $500.

Practical bits and pieces

Festival Information Booth: The Chamber booth will be on Main Street near True Grain Bread. 

  

Toilets: Located in the Post Office parking lot on Victoria Street, and on Victoria at Wharton. Public washrooms are also available at the Summerland Credit Union or Summerland United Church on Henry Street between 5-8pm.

 

Parking: Check our Parking Map for the best places to park on the night. If you live near downtown Summerland, we recommend walking as the streets will be very busy.

  

Parking restrictions: There will be no parking in the Post Office parking lot and back alley from 2:30pm. There is also no parking along Jubilee next to the Secondary School field for safety during the Fireworks display.

 

Road Closures: Henry Street between Main and Wharton will be closed to parking from 8 am. Main Street and Victoria Street will be closed from 2:30pm - 10 pm. From 8:00 pm-9:00 pm, Jubilee will be closed to traffic between Kelly and Rosedale for the fireworks.
