P ROFESSIONAL PHOTOS OF YOUR STUDENT ATHLETE

If you are a "senior parent" for the Class of 2016, and your senior played a Fall sport (Marching Band, Football,  Cross Country, Cheerleader, Volleyball, or Softball), you will find pictures that Jeff Hurndon took at the Landmark vs. ELCA football game of these seniors with their parents.

These pictures would make GREAT Christmas presents! Support Jeff for his diligence in covering our athletes!

Pet Rocky IV is Now Showing at ELCA
Rocky IV is a great movie but Pet Rocky IV is now showing at ELCA; The fourth annual avalanche of awesome  "Pet Rocks" arrived in Mr. Simpson's 6th Grade Earth Science classroom on Tuesday December 1st.  Each student was required to find, name, and give a personality to their rock. In addition, they had to write a 500-750 word story on their rock's life experiences throughout the rock cycle. Some of the rocks were born as magma, went to college, worked on wall street, or spread the gospel on mission trips in the igneous stage; starred in pro sports, played with lobsters, fought wars, or joined a band in the sedimentary stage; and got married, or became dancers, doctors, or actresses in the metamorphic stage. This project allowed the students to have fun and compile their knowledge on minerals, rocks, and weathering before they took their first semester science exam. The creativity and imaginations of the Class of 2022 really ROCKS!!

The 6th Grade Concert Band opened the night followed by the 7th & 8th Grade Symphonic Band. The High School Wind Ensemble concluded the night with a medley of carols and selections from the movie, "Polar Express."

Each band worked very hard in preparation for the concert and their work paid off! We are so happy to have such a large group of students involved in the arts at ELCA. The band program continues to grow and we couldn't be happier. A special thanks to all the parents for their continued support to our growing program! AN HOUR OF CODE

Every one of the 1044 students at ELCA joined in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, December 7-13.
Mrs. Harris' 4th grade students display their Hour of Code certificates.

The Hour of Code, organized by the nonprofit Code.org and over 100 others, is a statement that today's generation of students are ready to learn critical skills for 21st century success.
MODEL UNITED NATIONS

Representing the countries of Spain, Kuwait, Niger and Sweden, 23 ELCA students attended the Model United Nations at Georgia State University November 9-10.  Sara Edge had the honor of being the first ELCA student on the Security Council, and she did an outstanding job. These students prepare for weeks ahead of time by researching their country and the topics to be discussed. They also learn how to interact with other delegates to form strategic alliances and try to solve some of the major issues facing our world.

CARPOOL COURTESY

REMINDERS FROM THE STUDENT HANDBOOK

Out of respect for other drivers and for the safety of our children, parents must remain with their cars at all times while dropping off or waiting for students. When in carpool, if your student is not in sight and you have other cars blocked, exit the front of the line and park in a designated parking space or make the circle around the entry again.

Please do not park your car outside the boundaries of a designated parking space at any time. The entrances to the school must be clear at all times in case of emergency.

Also, please try to keep carpool lines moving by having your child ready to exit your vehicle promptly when arriving at the school entrance.

EXCEL Students Go Shopping!

EXCEL students have been studying personal finance and budgeting. During the week before Thanksgiving they planned a menu and created a shopping list.  They took a trip to Publix, where they comparison shopped for all the ingredients needed for their meals.  They were amazed how much it costs to feed a family for just one day!

What an extraordinary day! Sunday, November 29 was a day Eagle's LandingChristian Academy and Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church joined forces to impact our community in the name of Jesus Christ! Check out photos at  www.facebook.com/elca1970 or on Twitter #mintsu15.

Christmas - The Season of Giving
As we enter into the Christmas season we are all inspired to give to others.  Many giftswill be exchanged during this season of giving but none can compare to the ultimate gift that was given to all who believe - John 3:16.  God gave the most precious gift He could give, the gift of eternal life through the birth, death, and resurrection of His one and only son Jesus Christ.

At ELCA, we are thankful for the many blessings and provisions the Lord graciously gives to sustain His ministry to reach students and their families with the Gospel.  We are thankful for those who give above and beyond their tuition and invest in the mission of the school.  If you have already given to the school this year, we thank you for your support. Over $208,000 has been given or pledged for the 2015/2016 ELCA Fund Campaign! Our Current Parent participation rate is at 48% and our faculty/staff is at 97%.

If you have not yet given but would like to give to the Lord's mission here at ELCA, we encourage you to give your gift today.  There are two ways to give.
  1. Complete the donor form and return with your check
  2. Or give online at www.elcaonline.org/give

Gifts must be postmarked by December 31, 2015 for the 2015 tax year.
ELCA is classified as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, tax-exempt organization.
All gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law.

May the Lord bless you and your family during the Christmas Season and in to the New Year!
