Last year in Kentucky alone, roadway departure crashes accounted for 67% of crash related fatalities. Across the state, 20% of all crashes took place in a curve and 40% of the fatal crashes occurred while driving in a curve. The Horizontal Alignment Signing training course will focus on the aspects of assessing curve speed and the use of proper curve signing.

Sign & Post Installation Inspection

Signs are a means by which the transportation agencies communicate the rules, warnings, guidance and other highway information that drivers need to navigate their roads and streets.  This course trains individuals who are responsible for the inspection, placement, and oversight of Kentucky's roadway signage.

38th Annual Kentucky Transportation Conference
January 20-22, 2016

Each year, Kentuckians for Better Transportation hosts the largest annual Transportation Conference in the Commonwealth. Held in January this two-day event is attended by over 500 individuals including over 100 sponsors and exhibitors.   

In addition to nationally recognized speakers  representing all modes of transportation, the  conference is traditionally attended by Kentucky's Governor,  Speaker of The House , Senate President, Kentucky  and U.S. Legislators, local officials and business  leaders throughout the Commonwealth. 

During the closing luncheon on January 22, the Kentucky Transportation Hall of Fame Inductees will be announced.  Don't miss the opportunity to honor these individuals.

Funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the National Center for Rural Road Safety (Safety Center) is a new Center for Excellence, focused on enhancing safety on rural roads. The Safety Center provides resources, technical assistance and training to local, state, and tribal road owners and their stakeholders, in order to advance their efforts to implement effective safety programs, strategies and countermeasures that can reduce collisions, prevent injuries and save lives.

2016 Build a Better Mousetrap Competition
Have you or one of your co-workers recently built an innovative gadget or developed an improved way to do a job?  Well, now is the time to show off your creativity.  The Technology Transfer Program (T2) at the Kentucky Transportation Center is participating in the 2016 Build a Better Mousetrap National Competition sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration's Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) and Tribal Technical Assistance Program (TTAP) centers.

We are looking for projects that you, your employees or crew designed and built.  Projects can be anything from the development of tools, equipment modification, and/or processes that increase safety, reduce cost, improve efficiency, and improve the quality of transportation.
