This Sunday, March 8, is International Women's Day, an opportunity to recognize both the challenges and the accomplishments by and for women.
Women caregivers have a unique role in our society. Many women who provide care for a loved one also work, and their devotion to their caregiving can impact their professional decisions. Read more about this impact on our blog.
We celebrate the important work of all caregivers, both women and men, as well as that of our many volunteers. We have lots of opportunities this spring to get involved as a volunteer here at FCHCC, and we hope you will join us for our upcoming Volunteer Open House on March 4 or sign up for one of the Spring Trainings. SHINE Counselors work one-on-one with individuals in their own communities, providing free, confidential, and unbiased information, counseling, and assistance for all Medicare beneficiaries.

Are you concerned about the status of elders and people with disabilities in our community?
Do you consider yourself to be an advocate, or have the desire to develop advocacy skills?
Do you have a few hours a week to devote to visiting residents living in local nursing and rest homes and help them to resolve issues affecting quality of care and quality of life?
Attend this free training and develop the skills necessary to serve as a volunteer advocate for residents living in nursing and rest homes in Franklin County and the North Quabbin region. Volunteers are particularly needed for facilities in Shelburne Falls, Greenfield, and Sunderland.
Interested parties must successfully complete application process before attending the training. Download the volunteer application and CORI form (include a copy of driver's license or other government issued photographic identification), complete, and return to:

Community members send love to homebound elders
|
On Friday, February 13, hundreds of homebound elders across Franklin County and the North Quabbin region warmed their hearts with a hot meal and a handmade Valentine's Day card.
After Meals on Wheels kitchen staff packed the valentines alongside that day's meals, volunteer drivers delivered the cards on their normal Friday morning routes.... [
