Fall Stableford #2 Results
|
Fall Stableford #2 was played at The Ridge Golf Course in Auburn on Sunday, September 26. The course is in a beautiful setting but not without its challenges. There were fast breaking greens and the soft fairways from heavy watering eliminated any extra roll in the fairways. By the end of the round, everyone was indeed ready for the 19th hole.
Next time you see
Sharon Blume, she has a new nickname - "Rocky". She earned this by starting off the day getting her golf cart stuck on a rock on the first hole. She and her cart partner,
Patricia Ickes,
were rescued by two course employees. Although she was able to avoid more rocks with the cart, her ball seemed to be attracted to quite a few for the rest of the round.
Tammy Pinnick had a hole in one - animal hole, that is. The only thing this kind of hole in one gets you is a free drop (sorry Tammy).
Congratulations go to our two low net winners who each received a $20 Golf Galaxy Gift Card for their excellent Sunday play.
Flight 1
Susan Platner - Net 75 (Gross 102)
Flight 2
Amelie Gannon
- Net 81 (Gross 109)

100 Holes of Golf in ONE Day!
|
The Morton Golf Foundation has been an important partner with the Sacramento Chapter for several years and this "marathon" event raises much needed funds for the foundation. Below is a letter from Kathleen Foley, former member of EWGA Sacramento Chapter and a member of the Board of Directors of the Morton Golf Foundation (MGF).
"The Morton Golf Foundation would like to invite EWGA members to volunteer to participate in and raise funds for the 2nd annual Morton Golf Foundation's Sacramento Golf Marathon on November 16, 2015. The Marathon can be played anyway you like (i.e. with a partner as alternate shot, play 100 holes individually, play 3-4 balls each hole until 100 is holed......no rules!).
Each participant will be asked to reach out to friends, family, colleagues, etc. to donate in support of the Morton Golf Foundation. A goal, but certainly not mandatory, is $1,000 in donations per participant. By participating in the Marathon at Haggin Oaks golf complex, you will help the Morton Golf Foundation continue its vision to enrich the lives of the less fortunate through the game of golf.
The MGF puts its money to action by delivering over 95% of funds raised to youth, disabled and underserved in the Greater Sacramento area.
Over the last 6 years the MGF has granted over $600,000 to programs such as:
- The American Heart Association's "Saving Strokes" program which helps stroke victims realize they can still be active through the game of golf.
- Angels for Hearts which teaches the game of golf and core values to children with serious heart issues. In many cases, these children simply could not be active without a helping hand from this golf program.
- First Tee of Greater Sacramento.
- Special Olympics of Northern California "California Eagles Golf" program; MGF supports special needs children and adults by helping them live in a normal environment. They learn the game of golf, they make friends and they have fun!
- Among the other programs the MGF supports include; Junior Golf Grants which helps junior golfer learn to compete, improve skills, adopt core values and build long lasting relationships; NCGA Foundation "Youth on Course" program promotes golf by subsidizing the cost to play golf to make it more affordable for junior golfers and The First Tee of Greater Sacramento, which is well known for building the core values in young golfers!
Please help the
Morton Golf Foundation
continue its good work by participating and raising funds to help young people grow into strong citizens, help the disabled to be active and assist the underserved to realize their potential.
All donations are tax deductible. The Morton Golf Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation established and operated exclusively for charitable purposes.
If you would like to participate, please contact Kathleen Foley, MGF Board Member, (916) 769-4958, [email protected]."
