2016 AIA/CKC Board of Directors and Officers Slate of Nominations Announced
The AIA/CKC Nominating Committee has nominated the following slate of candidates for 2016:
 
Vice President/President Elect (One year term as VP with automatic second year term as President):   Jean-Paul Grivas, AIA
Secretary (One year term):  Scott Kremer, AIA
Treasurer (One year term):   Chris Bowling, AIA
Director (Two year term):  Mathew Triplett, AIA
Director (Two year term):   TBD - Pending Confirmation
 
The above slate of officer candidates will be voted on at the AIA/CKC Annual Meeting. The CKC Annual Meeting will be held on October 27, 2015 in conjunction with the October Program (see information below).

The following board officers will continue in their current or new roles previously determined (no vote necessary):

AIA/CKC October Program- Annual meeting & Louisville Government Panel Discussion
Date: Tuesday,October 27th, 2015
Location: Crescent Hill Reservoir Pump House, Reservoir Avenue, Louisville, KY 40206

Program Description: Join us for this unique event! The AIA/CKC annual meeting will be held at the Louisville Water Company Gatehouse at the Crescent Hill reservoir. The program will include a panel discussion with local government officials from Metro Louisville, and Louisville Forward/Develop Louisville. After the program, you will have a chance to tour the building and learn about the project from the architect and design team of the Gatehouse. 
Program Schedule: 
5:30-6:00- Cocktail hour, informal tour/ meet & greet with the Architect and design team of the Reservoir Gatehouse project
 
6:00-7:00- Annual meeting followed by a panel discussion with Metro Louisville, Louisville forward/develop Louisville including leadership of Planning & Design services, Construction Review, and
Advanced Planning. The panelists are below:
  • Mary Ellen Wiederwohl- Chief of Louisville Forward
  • Jim Mims - Director of Develop Louisville
  • Maria Koetter- Director of the Office of Sustainability, Develop Louisville/ Louisville Forward
  • Emily Liu- Director of the Office of Planning & Design Services, Develop Louisville/ Louisville Forward
  • David Marchal- Director of the Office of Construction Review, Develop Louisville / Louisville Forward
  • Gretchen Milliken- Director of the Office of Advanced Planning, Develop Louisville/ Louisville Forward
 
7:00-7:30- Informal building tour & discussions with the Architect & design team of the Reservoir Gatehouse project
IDPOctober IDP Event:  Big Four Bridge & Big Four Station 
Big Four Bridge & Big Four Station Park Presentation, Site Visit & Social Event (Jeffersonville's First modern Public Park)

All Architectural Interns, Architects licensed 5-years or less, AIA members & significant others, are invited to attend this program at the Big Four Bridge.

Jim MacMillan, Assoc. AIA, & Joel Wallace, AIA, of TEG Architects will be the guest speakers.
 
This Presentation will focus on the following items:
  • Connection of the park to the bridge
  • Inception of the project
  • Design development (Planning & Logistics of creating Jeffersonville's first modern Public Space)
  • Coordination with bridge construction
  • Construction Detailing
  • Construction Process
  • Completion (Response to Architecture and Park design)
 This Presentation is open to all AIA members.
 
Cost is free to Architectural Interns, Architects licensed less than 5-years & AIA members.

Food & Drinks will be served after the program at the Big Four Station Park

Presentation by Steve Wiser:  Louisville Cemetaries
Louisville Cemeteries, St. Matthews Library, 3940 Grandview Ave., Tuesday, October 13th, 2:30 pm; Local historians  Steve Wiser and Jack Koppel will discuss Louisville cemeteries (such as Eastern, Portland, Western, Louisville, Calvary, St. Michaels, St. Louis, Jewish cemeteries along Preston Street, Anchorage and other smaller cemeteries). They will focus on the history as well as some of the notable individuals buried at these locations. FREE and open to the public.  (Note: Cave Hill will not be featured in this talk.)
