"IFMA Professional Credentials, Which is Best for My Career?"

Wondering if your career path should include IFMA credentials?  Associate or Professional member, which are the right credentials for you?  Will an FMP, CFM or SFP enhance your career?

As an Associate, an FMP can add a greater understanding of the facilities industry and credibility when stepping into meetings with facility professionals.   How long does it take, how much does it cost, what are the steps and what does it take to maintain the certification?

Attend our  breakfast seminar and learn about FMP, CFM and SFP course offerings this year.  Hear success stories from our Chapter members and be informed about the exciting opportunities for advancing your career with an IFMA credential.

Our Chapter membership is fortunate to have as an instructor, Phyllis Meng, CFM, SFP, IFMA Fellow and Deputy Executive Officer, General Services for the LA County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.  Phyllis has been teaching our credential classes for a number of years, graciously offering her services mainly for the joy of watching members succeed.

Join us to learn more and to set a course for your future as a facilities professional as well as how to maintain your certification.

Clean Out Your Closets for TWO Causes

IFMA San Diego's Community Service Committee is collecting business attire for SDYS's TAY Academy for the young people going on interviews and used textiles for recycling to earn funds for SDYS

Clean out your closet ... Gentlemen, that suit or sports coat, ties.  Ladies, the dress that you no longer like will help a young person "dress for success" at their next interview. Dress shoes, belts, purses and appropriate jewelry can also be used. All sizes are needed.

We are also looking to recycle bedding, clothes, sleeping bags and so many other things.

How can you help? Give us your clean, gently used office attire!

We will be collecting these items at the March 11 and April 8 Luncheons.  Contact Vicky Cate or call her at 619-520-7189

EV Charging at Multifamily Communities

The words Compliance, Rules, Regulations and Guidelines on colorful arrow road signs directing you to comply wih important laws or standards

Multifamily communities have unique challenges and there is a spectrum of creative solutions. Many such property owners are looking to such an amenity to attract a new group of tenants, increase their "green" image for marketing; or getting points toward LEED certification.

We are seeing more and more of these plug-in cars on our roads, and with about 50% of our region living in multifamily communities managers of these properties are getting asked more frequently about the possibility of charging.

Multifamily communities have unique challenges and there is a spectrum of creative solutions. Many such property owners are looking to such an amenity to attract a new group of tenants, increase their "green" image for marketing; or getting points toward LEED certification.

Do these five things when considering installing charging on your own property:

  1. Conduct a survey of residents to see if they plan to purchase an EV

  2. Research the options you have for charging

  3. Contact an electrical contractor for installation costs

  4. Call SDG&E to discuss rate options

  5. Contractor will coordinate planning with SDG&E and municipal government for permitting and inspections

For a complete list of the seven key steps to know when considering charging installation, visit SDGE Clean Energy For questions about charging installations at your facility email SDG&E's Clean Transportation Team at [email protected].
