CARRY OVER OF CE CREDITS APPROVED

Recently Ohio approved the carry over of a limited number of excess CE credits from one compliance period to another compliance period. The start date of this carryover has not been determined. The regulations are in process of being developed.

The changes proposed will bring Ohio in line with 21 other states that allow insurance agents to carry over excess CE credits. Kentucky has allowed the carryover of excess CE for years.
OHIO AUTO AND HO TREND REPORT    

Premiums remain well below the US average. Despite an uptick in the cost of coverage, the Ohio Insurance Institute (OII) reports that affordable auto and homeowners premiums remain a mainstay for most Ohioans. Even with increases, the cost of coverage in Ohio remains considerably lower in comparison to most other states. Read the report

No Coverage for Home Marijuana Business

In Nationwide Mut. Fire Ins. Co. v. McDermott, 603 Fed. Appx. 374 (6th Cir. 2015), the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals recently ruled that growing marijuana in a basement creates a significant increase in a home owner's risk, negating coverage for a loss that arose out of such activity.
