Wins Nobel Prize in Chemistry

Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) congratulates Prof. Aziz Sancar, Sarah Graham Kenan Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, for being awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. As being the first Turkish American Scientist in history to receive this prestigious prize, Prof. Sancar has brought great honor to the Turkish American Community in the US and as well as Turkish citizens living in Turkey and abroad. ATAA feels very proud of his achievement in DNA studies which show how the cell repairs its DNA and safeguards its genetic information. 

ATAA would also like to take this opportunity to thank  Prof. Sancar for being a long time ATAA member and supporter and well known community leader. With his support ATAA is able to function in line with our goals and achieve valuable results for  Turkish American community.

In 2005, ATAA showed its appreciation by bestowing the "Outstanding Achievement in Science Award" on  Prof. Sancar. 

ATAA wishes Prof. Aziz Sancar  all success for his future achievements.
