Community Educators Provide Culturally Sensitive
Breastfeeding Support
As Lincoln's population has become increasingly diverse, there are mothers in our community who are raising their babies in a foreign culture without the guidance and support of their own mothers and grandmothers. These new mothers may speak limited English and may not understand our health care system or know where and how to get help with breastfeeding.
In a joint effort with the Asian Community Center, MilkWorks has hired 7 minority Community Breastfeeding Educators (CBEs). As a CBE, they support other mothers who share similar languages and customs. Read more about MilkWorks and this great program.

One of our newest partners, the Lincoln Asian Community & Cultural Center, celebrates Asian cultures and actively promotes healthy lifestyles. Their new collaboration with MilkWorks is a great addition to their existing health programs that include diabetes screening and education and case management with the Minority Health Initiative.
