The Adolescent Brain
In this excellent Ted talk, cognitive neuroscientist Sarah-Jayne Blakemore describes the uneven nature of brain development during adolescence and succinctly portrays the neurocognitive underpinnings of teens' cognitive, moral and social capacities.

"The Parental Alienation Dynamic"
I have recently discovered the work of Craig Childress, Psy.D., a clinical psychologist based in Pasadena, CA who in his practice addresses parent-child conflict, family problems, and romantic relationship conflict.  In a compelling presentation, he describes his view of what he calls the "parental alienation dynamic."  In this family process, one parent is idealized by the child and the other is alienated and devalued.  Dr. Childress poignantly explains how narcissistic issues in the family system fuel this dynamic and may be approached in treatment.

Baumrind's Four Parenting Styles
Diana Baumrind and her colleagues conducted groundbreaking research on parenting that led to the identification of 4 major parenting styles; when parents tend to draw from radically distinct styles and are unable to integrate their tendencies, parenting efforts are often contradictory, confusing and ineffective.
