myPass

  Alberta Ed has created "myPass" f or all Alberta students, but this new web-based service is primarily for high school students who are earning course credits from Alberta Education courses. P lease visit http://www.thee.ca/mypass/  to learn more or to sign up.  This is an important student data/information system, and all high school Alberta students will be required to create an account for themselves so that they will be able to check their own academic history and progress and be able to perform the following functions:
  • View and print diploma exam result statements.
  • Order transcripts.
  • View progress towards a credential (diploma or certificate).
  • View student personal information.
  • View and print detailed academic reports (DAR).
  • Order additional copies of a credential.
  • Register for a diploma exam
Alberta students will use this new system during high school and beyond into post-secondary studies, admissions, scholarships, grants, etc.

Reimbursement Updates

Deadline in May 
While the month of May does seem to be a long way off into the future, it will eventually sneak up on us!  Please remember that the deadline for sending your receipts to us for the current school year is Friday, May 20th.  Please note that any of your unspent funding will not be carried over to the next school year but will be transferred into a school account that will be used for the enhancement and development of our education programs.

Another reminder and request: if you fax your reimbursement form and receipts to us, be sure to follow up with a phone call to thee's office immediately after you have completed your fax submission to confirm our receipt of your faxed documents. In some instances, we at the office have received blank pages, so please be sure that we have received your fax as soon as you have sent the fax.

Tutoring
 
Tutoring expenses ARE tax deductible under the children's fitness and fine arts tax credit, for children under age 16. click  HERE for more information.

Previously, you may have heard that tutoring expenses may become a non-reimbursable expense due to instructions which certain officials from Alberta Education gave to the principal of a fellow home education program.  We here at thee/Morinville Christian School (MCS) have investigated the matter, and the education committee of MCS has officially approved the category of tutoring as being a fully reimbursable expense.  You may use your home education funding to pay for tutoring expenses, so the tutoring expenses that will be tax deductible will be those expenses for which you did not receive reimbursement.

We will be following up with our school's education manager regarding the topic of reimbursable expenses, and I  will  be sure to keep you updated on the outcome(s) of these meetings.

BEHIND THE SCENES
Our tickets for both Calgary's private tour of the Alberta Ballet studio/rehearsal (Nov 30), and Edmonton's viewing of the company class/ rehearsal (Dec 10) have been secured and payment is due now. Please send a cheque payable to THEE.  Funding MAY be used to cover your ticket price so receipts will be issued to you. 

I will send out a reminder email to the families who have reserved tickets a few days prior to each event.

Payment for tickets is now due!!
I cannot hold tickets for any family who's payment is not received by Nov 25. Please inform us that payment is on the way!

For those families who have reserved tickets, please send your cheques payable to THEE.  Our Edmonton performance date is February 24, 2016 @ 8:00pm  Ticket price is $57.15 per ticket

Due to lack of interest I have had to release all Calgary performance tickets.  Should we have interest from more Calgary area families I am happy to arrange group tickets.  Please email  Laura to inquire about those tickets.
