Updates for Members of the UDFC Soccer Community

Starting a New Year With UDFC!
I'm honored to be beginning my term this month as UDFC president. There's no question I have large shoes to fill. Outgoing President Ted Farmer has done an incredible job over the last three years. His dedication has helped shape the club we have today and has setup UDFC for long term success.

As the new president, I will look to continue to build on the same principles and values he has envisioned for UDFC. I want the club to be a staple in our community, and provide more than just a place to play soccer.

Reflecting on my own childhood, soccer was such an important part of my youth. The life skills I learned and the friends I made were invaluable. It has been an absolute treat that I have been able to gain the same benefits as an adult. UDFC means so much to me and my family, and I will continue to work hard to make sure it is a benefit to your families.

As I transition into this role, I want to thank the board for entrusting me with this task. I am lucky to be surrounded by great individuals, and recognize that without their efforts it would be hard to achieve any success. I look forward to meeting and talking with you, and will always be available to hear your comments, questions or concerns.

Help Plan the 2016 First
Responders Cup

This year UDFC will be hosting its second First Responders Cup (FRC).  In our inaugural event last year, we had more than 300 kids join us for a fun, spirited community day designed to promote soccer, UDFC, and the incredible people that make up the police, fire, and EMT departments.

This year's event will be held on Sunday, May 15th, again at Monsignor Bonner High School field. Planning for the FRC is a big effort.  Steve Ford and Cedric Karp will be overseeing the planning stages and would like to invite you to help be a part of something special.

If you are interested in joining the FRC Planning Committee please email Cedric Karp. As with all aspects of UDFC, success is dictated by its volunteers. This is a great opportunity to be part of something special for our community.
Save the Date: Annual Beef and Beer

On Saturday, March 19, UDFC's annual Beef and Beer returns to Casey's Restaurant, 812 North Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill. We will continue to build on the success of our last two years, offering a buffet, prizes, raffles, a silent auction, and more. Save the date and watch for more details in weeks to come. And if you can donate to the auction, email Kathy Amatucci using the link below.
Step Up Your Involvement and Help Our Kids Thrive

Want to make a difference in the lives of Upper Darby area kids? Here's a great way you can help.

We are looking for a group of engaged, motivated parents to form a new leadership committee that will guide UDFC's intramural programs. This is not about coaching soccer -- organizational skills are more important than soccer knowledge in helping to manage these programs from the point of registration to when our kids take the field.

Whether you can offer a little time or a lot, we could use your help. UDFC intramural programs have grown to include year-round playing opportunities: Fall Intramurals, Winter Futsal, Spring Academy and Free Play. To ensure each of these programs continues to thrive, we're looking for leads to manage each, and a new vice president to coordinate all intramural activities.

The continued success of these foundational UDFC programs depends on you. If you are interested in stepping up your level of commitment to UDFC and the kids we serve, please contact Chris Rouleau and Ted Farmer to discuss the opportunities available.
Upper Darby School District Summit

Upper Darby School District is hosting a Volunteer Summit on Monday, February 1, from 6-8:30 at Upper Darby High School. This is a great opportunity to obtain the clearances necessary to volunteer for school events or community activities, including UDFC. Visit the school district website for more information.
Keep Spring Concessions in Business!

UDFC is looking for volunteers to work at the Hillcrest concession stand during the spring season on Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The stand is important to parents who forget to bring water or Powerade or who simply need a pretzel to hold their kids over during their time at the field. Without volunteers, we will be unable to offer this convenience in the spring. If you can help, or if you have any questions, please contact Julie Ricci.
Upper Darby Futbol Club (UDFC) is a non-profit tax-exempt educational 501c3 charitable organization. UDFC believes the ability to pay should not be a barrier to participating in our soccer programs. Registration fee assistance is available. Contact the  club treasurer for more information.
