"I thank my God every time I remember you." - Philippians 1:3

Next week is the National Catholic Educational Association's Catholic Schools Week - one of our favorite weeks at Garces because it allows us to thank those who make Garces possible.  It is our opportunity to focus on those who help us to carry out our mission - our parents and students; the Garces Community; local priests and the Diocese; our alumni; board member and event volunteers; our grandparents, and our teachers, coaches and staff. This is our week to thank those who make it possible for us to impact the lives of the students on our campus by teaching and modeling our Catholic values.  We are grateful. It is also an opportunity for us to teach and model gratitude to our students. Planning this week is always fun for us because we always try to add something unexpected.  Mr. Geissel has planned Student Appreciation Day - and it promises to be memorable.  Hopefully when you ask your child how his or her day was on Tuesday - you will hear it was a good day at Garces.  We know how much our grandparents love their grandchildren, so we will have a photo station set up on Grandparents' Day.   On Friday, we are opening the campus at lunch so parents can bring their student their favorite lunch and picnic with them on campus.  We will have special prayers each day to pray for those who make our mission possible. Not long ago a student was in my office and she said "I love Garces" and when I asked her why - she simply replied "Because I can pray here and you can't do that at other schools."  So thank you parents for sending your child to Garces.  They remind us every day why this is a special place.
