Family Friday: Valentines Workshop, see below

Tuesday Life Drawing Sessions:  Tuesdays, starting January 5th, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm; $10 per person; age 18 & up; bring your own drawing supplies.  Life Drawing is a great way to quickly improve your observational skills, which is great practice for any artist. The attention to visual reality helps hone an understanding of how forms and light relate. Just $10 per session, or $30 for four sessions.


NEW! Music Therapy with A Place To Be We're partnering with the Middleburg-based nonprofit A Place To Be a to help more people face, navigate and overcome life challenges through music and the performing arts. The new programs, to be held on Monday and Tuesday afternoons at RHAC, will expand access to APTB's services to Western Loudoun residents. A Place to Be is dedicated to using music to help people meet their personal goals and create better lives. While he has often worked with young people who are developmentally disabled, and has many students on the autism spectrum, co-founder Tom Sweitzer stresses that music therapy is useful at every age.  Mondays and Tuesdays by appointment starting February 8, 2016; $50 per half hour session. NEW! Piano Lessons with Colette Hay:  Experienced performer, instructor, and certified Alexander Technique teacher Colette Hay has degrees in music from James Madison University and the Levine School of Music. A patient teacher, Colette encourages improvisation and exploration while working on music reading and pattern discovery. By appointment. Ages 6 and up. Private half-hour lessons are $45. Handbuilt Ceramics with Amy Manson (Winter 2016): Tuesdays, starting February 2, (eight classes) 10 am - 1 pm, $200 plus $25 materials fee, Age 16 & up. Beautiful and functional ceramics can be made simply without using the pottery wheel. With this ancient art form, the possibilities are endless. Discover what you can create with a few simple handbuilding techniques and learn the most current and creative ways to work with slabs, coils and molds to create plates, vases, tiles, butter dishes and more. Experiment with a wide range of color and texture using slips, stains and glazes to decorate your ceramic creations. Individual and group discussions will help guide you as your ideas and creativity develop. Appropriate for all skill levels.

February Family Friday: Valentines Workshop:  Homemade valentines are the best! We'll have some cool new valentines ideas for folks of all skill levels. Don't worry about dinner -- we'll have pizza and drinks ready. riday, February 5, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, $35 includes materials and pizza for a family of four All ages welcome.


For Grown-Ups: February Handy Hour: Valentines Block Prints  Jill Evans-Kavaldjian will help you an original print to show your love! You'll learn how to transfer an original design to a printing block, carve the design, and print an edition in this fun workshop. Carve your and your sweeties' initials in the tree trunk, or make another design. Tools and refreshments included -- and we might even visit the winery next door for a glass of wine! Friday, February 5, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm; $25 plus $20 for materials, Age 18 & up.


Amy's Amazing Art Lab:  Saturdays, 10:30 am - 12 pm, February 13 though March 5 (four classes), $100 plus $20 materials. Ages 7-13.  Artist Amy Manson leads this dynamic class, which encourages children's natural interest in exploring their own creativity.  Learn about drawing, painting, sculpting and design> We'll discuss various artists and artistic styles and movements. Explore multiple mediums and develop new skills -- new art projects each session!

*VSA Workshop: Making Magical Creatures with Huyen McMichael:  Create fun and fanciful creatures using various techniques with Model Magic clay.  Form your favorites, from bunnies to dragons, and whatever make believe creatures might show up! Wednesday February 24, 4:30 pm to 6 pm, ages 5 years (with assistance) and up, $20.  *VSA Workshops are presented and partially funded by VSA arts of Loudoun, DaVinci Artists' Studio and the Round Hill Arts Center.  Classes are adaptive for people with disabilities, and are inclusive.  Students requiring assistance or for questions regarding accessibility, please contact [email protected]



The Town of Round Hill and Round Hill Arts Center are  seeking proposals from area artists for the design of several 4' x 8' murals for  the Round Hill Town Park The theme of the murals will be "Life in Western Loudoun." Proposals will be initially evaluated by the Mural Committee of the Round Hill Arts Center before final approval by the Round Hill Town Council. The murals will be installed in time to celebrate the 14th Annual Round Hill Hometown Festival on May 28, 2016. Each winning artist will receive an honorarium of $200 for their work.
