Many customers have been pleasantly surprised by the size and quality of our inventory this time of year.  As many greenhouses are getting ready to close up shop or slowing down significantly, we're continually bringing in fresh plants throughout our season (which continues into late September).  If you're in need of annuals, we currently have options for small fillers, beautiful patio planters, as well as hanging baskets.  We also have an excellent perennial and shrub selection as well as the beginnings of fall plantings such as mums, asters, fall rudbeckia, and ornamental grasses.  We continue to receive deliveries of new plants each week.

It's That Time of Year Already?

 

It's hard to believe, but we received our first delivery of mums this week.  It definitely doesn't mean that fall is here yet, but it does mean it's around the corner.  We'll continue receiving more and more mums, asters, ornamental kale, decorative grasses, and other fall plants throughout the next couple months.  If your annual planters are beginning to look a bit tired, these fall plantings are a great way to refresh your pots and extend blooms into late fall.

 

Perennial grasses have four season interest, wave in slight breezes, and are pretty much insect and disease resistant, not to mention typically very easy to establish and maintain.  Late summer is prime time for grasses in the landscape since this is when they are reaching their maximum height and producing their various seedheads.  We currently have a very diverse selection of perennial grasses at both locations that are suitable for many different types of locations.  Whether you're looking for native grasses, short or tall, clumping or spreading, grasses for full sun or shade, grasses with beautiful seedheads and/or interesting color, we can definitely help you find a grass that's right for you.  Some of our personal favorites include:  'Morning Light' miscanthus, 'Aureola' Japanese forest grass, Prairie dropseed, 'Carousel' little bluestem, Northern sea oats, 'Avalanche' feather reed, and 'Shenandoah' switchgrass.  Stop in to see these great grasses for yourself.
