Federal, state and regional officials met in Johnstown last week to learn about funding and programs available to assist coal-impacted communities. Mark Critz, PA Rural Development Council, moderated the session, which attracted over 70 people. Special thanks go to Catalyst Connection, JARI, PA Rural Development Council and Sustainable Strategies for assisting in the programming and agenda development and to Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission, Foundation for PA Watersheds, and Somerset Trust Co. for sponsoring the meeting.
Conemaugh Announces
New East Hills Outpatient Center

Officials from Conemaugh Health System participated in a ceremonial groundbreaking at the East Hills Outpatient Center site on Scalp Avenue in Richland Township. They included 
Scott Becker, CEO; Frank Quitoni, Chairman; Dr. Susan Williams, Chief Medical Officer; and Steve Tucker, CEO, Hospital Division.

Mr. Becker noted the commitment of the health system to the Johnstown region and to the Vision 2025 framework for building a resilient community. The new $70 million center will provide comprehensive health care services under one roof. For more information, please see the link to the Tribune Democrat article here.
Basic Machine Operations
Training Complete

Congratulations to seven individuals who completed JARI's 48-hour Basic Machine Operations Training Program at the Greater Johnstown Career & Technology Center.

Graduates of the program include: Brady Myers, John Matsko IV, Frank Barber, Adam Poznanski, Steven Wilhelm, Blain Bailey and Tyler Reed. JARI will be holding a "meet the graduates" session with potential employers on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM.

Funding for the program was made possible through the Penelec Fund for the Future of Greater Johnstown of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies.
