A Message from AFA's

This November, for National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month and National Family Caregiver Month, AFA hopes  you join will join us in honoring and advocating for those living with the disease and care partners nationwide. AFA has planned a variety of local and national activities this year, and we encourage you to get involved! 
  • November 1-7: National Memory Screening Week (formerly National Memory Screening Day)
  • November 5: Light the Nation - landmarks across the country and world will light up teal to raise awareness of Alzheimer's
  • November 7: AFA's Educating America initiative visits West Palm Beach, Fla. for a day of awareness-raising, free confidential memory screenings & more
  • November 16: joint webinar with National Alliance for Caregiving on tips and talking points for starting a discussion about memory concerns with loved ones during the holiday season
  • November 17: AFA co-hosts a webinar with Avanir Pharmaceuticals on Pseudobulbar Affect (PBA) in 
    Alzheimer's Dementia.

Upcoming AFA & LiveOn NY Training Workshop- December 3
 
AFA and LiveOn NY will be jointly hosting an educational workshop this December: "Untangling the Web: Aging & Dementia." We hope you will join us for a morning of education and networking as we unravel the continuum of the aging process and explore health literacy and brain health and wellness. Continuing Education
Each month, AFA offers  a free, monthly teleconference--Care Connection-- geared toward professional and family care partners.  Featuring an array of leaders and experts in the field, Care Connection, which is held the second Thursday of each month from 1 to 2 pm ET, seeks to provide care partners with valuable knowledge on topics related to Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, including medical, behavioral, practical and social.  As a participant, you will have the chance to ask questions and learn from other listeners.

*Professionals who are sanctioned as AFA Certified Dementia Care Partners must renew their credential every year by obtaining eight CEUs.
 
Every hour of continuing education equals one credit . 30 minutes of content equals 0.5 credits. A program of less than 30 minutes in total is not applicable, and all intervals of less than 30 minutes are rounded down to the nearest 30-minute mark.
