FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Join the Early Learning Coalition and Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida!
Clearwater, Fla.  (January 20, 2015)  Educators and child care centers throughout Pinellas county will be celebrating literacy next week--January 25th through the 29th--as part of a statewide reading initiative.   Designated by the Florida Department of Education, the Just Read, Florida! Office,  and in partnership with Florida's Office of Early Learning,  Literacy Week is a statewide event held each year to promote the importance of early literacy experiences.   The Just Read, Florida! office takes "the opportunity during the week to encourage students to keep reading and improving their skills.  Students, teachers, administrators, parents and volunteers all celebrate the tremendous success Florida's students have accomplished...if Florida's students are going to shoot for the moon and achieve great success they must have the literacy skills that 21st century careers demand."

The Early Learning Coalition will celebrate this year by hosting special guest readers throughout the week at various early learning sites.   This will include community partners, business and non profit executive s, elected officials, such as local elected officials, professional athletes, business and nonprofit executives, first responders and community volunteers.  This year's book is "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak.  Guest readers will take the children on "a  wild rumpus with Max to a land where almost anything can happen."
