The "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" seminar NE Tech Center is sponsoring is starting next week. Sara Stephens will be holding the training on Friday mornings from February 6 to April 1. Get registered today! Make your reservations for the Rotary club's Sweetheart Dinner and Auction. This will be an evening of excellent food, fun, and an opportunity to raise money for a great organization! Also mark your calendars for Saturday, February 13. The Boys and Girls Club is hosting a benefit concert to raise money for construction costs of their new location. If you aren't able to attend, please consider making a donation. I stopped in the Shoe Dept. this week. They had an amazing selection of name brand shoes, and some even more amazing deals. Check them out, and... Remember to Shop Local First all year long. Have a great week! Michele On January 25, 1954 The first District Golden Gloves tournament was sponsored by the Jr. Chamber of Commerce. |

Lavern's Wedding Chapel
Lavern's Wedding Chapel, 15 B S.E., is this week's Business Spotlight Award recipient. Tens of thousands of couples have been joined in marriage at the little business across the street from the courthouse since it was founded in 1954. Lavern Harris was married there in 1955 and purchased the business in 1973. Her daughter, Patricia, has worked there since 1977 and now owns the chapel. The business is open Mon-Fri from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Evening, weekend and legal holiday appointments are available by appointment. Pictured are Judee Snodderly of MAEDS; owner Patricia Jones; Michele Bolton of the Miami Area Chamber of Commerce, and Anita Smith of Sunkissed Floral.
