In early January we went to Quetzaltenango, which is the 2nd largest city in Guatemala. It is a beautiful area with mountains and volcanos. We worked with Pr. Jeff Stone and his church, Calvary Chapel La Esperanza. We had many opportunities to share Christ, and it was a joy to get to know the people of the church. The people in Guatemala are wonderful and very kind.
Nancy had the opportunity to share Christ with a woman on the plane and at a bus station later that day, and Kevin had the opportunity to share with a man on the 3 1/2 hour bus ride from Guatemala City to Quetzaltenango. The woman on the plan that Nancy shared with, Maria Luisa, accepted Christ.
During the week we did our Quality Of Life outreach event in 2 public schools in the La Esperanza area of Quetzaltenango, in 1 public school in Santa Rita, and also in a private school. We also had the opportunity to share the Gospel in a small private school for adults that are finishing their high school education, and also in a drug rehab center. We all felt the Holy Spirit very strongly at work at the drug rehab center, and 13 men accepted Christ and committed their lives to Him.
Kevin also led a People Sharing Jesus training seminar on Saturday morning and on Sunday afternoon after church. About 40 people from the church participated and learned various methods to share Christ with others in the power of the Holy Spirit. Kevin also preached on Sunday morning at Calvary Chapel La Esperanza, and God moved again in a powerful way and 5 people accepted Christ, including a woman and her daughter that are Pastor Jeff's neighbors and were visiting the church.
We had a great trip and we praise God for the over 600 people that accepted Christ and committed their lives to Him, including 18 teachers, 2 directors, and many parents at the schools.
