March 2014
Kidney Health for All

World Kidney Day is being celebrated around the world today. Kidney foundations, health care providers and patients together will help to raise the profile of kidney disease.

We invite you to share the important message of Kidney Health with your personal network. The Kidney Foundation's online risk assessment tool, www.kidney.ca/risk, is one way that people can assess their risk for kidney disease.

Kidney disease affects 1 in 10 Canadians, and millions more are at risk. Please help us get the word out.

Wendy White have one special quality in common. For over 17 years, they have volunteered their time each March as volunteers for The Kidney Foundation's March Drive door to door campaign.

As canvassers and now team leaders, both ladies ensure that their teams of canvassers have all the necessary materials

Inside these pages are some inspiring stories that showcase how people of all ages are living well with kidney disease. From Courtney's story of triumph at the 2014 Canadian Transplant Games, to the story of Don and Lori Kraemer and their experience with the paired exchange program each story illustrates resolve and determination, no matter the age or stage, to manage kidney disease in stride as part of daily living.

Study Participants Needed
Walking and Health in Adults

with a Kidney Transplant

Researchers at Athabasca University want to learn about the health outcomes associated with walking behaviour in adult kidney transplant recipients. Participants will be asked to wear a pedometer for three days and record their number of steps, then complete and return a survey (postage paid).

For more information, email [email protected] or visit www.kidney.ca/surveys
