Montgomery County's Chamber of Commerce held their Business Awards dinner in November and several Rockville companies were recognized.  They were M. Luis Construction, EVEN Hotels and VariQ.


Standard Solar Logo Rockville based Standard Solar completed construction of one of the states's largest retail garage-top solar canopies.  The 855 panel array is expected to offset approximately 30 percent of the energy needed to power the garage. The 7-level, 566 space garage is located on Rockville Pike.

MWBC Kicks Off Year-Long Celebration

If you weren't at the Best Western Plus in Rockville on November 5th then you missed the Kick-Off celebration and breakfast for the Maryland Women's Business Center's 5th Anniversary Year!

In front of a sell out crowd, welcomed by REDI Executive Director, Laurie Boyer, MWBC Managing Director, Kiesha Haughton Smoots talked about MWBC plans for the year and years ahead.

2015 StartRight! Women's Business Plan Winner, Hetty Irmer of Four Corners Counseling spoke about the StartRight! process and the opportunities that came with it.

Reginald Exum Citi Foundation, an MWBC sponsor since the beginning,   informed attendees that, "We have invested $250,000 in the MWBC over the last 5 years to help them teach and encourage women how to create and maintain their businesses."

"The counseling from the MWBC is invaluable in guiding women through the entrepreneurship process." stated Small Business Administration Deputy Director, Julie Clowes. " I like to think of them as dream makers."

The event, sponsored by Best Western Plus Hotels & Suites, Allegra Printing and Women's Business Report, also introduced the MWBC's new  fundraising campaign.

City Holiday Toy Drive is On!
While Rockville sits at the heart of one of the nation's most prosperous counties, not everyone is that fortunate.

Through the years, a tradition of community service has been established in Rockville. The city's annual Holiday Drive , which helps over 500 Rockville families during the holiday season, collects and distributes   toys and gifts in December to hundreds of Rockville children and families.

You can donate any new, unwrapped toys at the REDI office any time before the deadline of December 16th.
