December  2015
President's Message

Dear Coaches,

Hoping you are all well and enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday.

A quick recap on November's "Assessments, Assessments, Assessments: Which ones to choose?" event, which was so informative.  Many thanks to Susan Ginsberg-O'Sullivan and Robin Schletter, who invited our speakers, and a special thanks to our presenters:

Stephanie Capparell , Journalist, Author and Filmmaker - The Birkman Method
Joanne Killmeyer, Ed.S., M.B.A., B.C.C. - DiSC; and Board member
Wendy Mantel, PCC - 360 Reach Personal Brand Assessment

Each gave a brief overview and hosted a small group deep dive.  Participants rotated through the three Assessments, learned from each expert and explored how these assessments can be helpful coaching tools.  The format worked well and participants left with insights and resources for further consideration.

Ready to party?   Just fifteen days till the ICF NYC Holiday Party. This year's party will be held at the Penn Club. We hope you can join us on Tuesday, December 15th. It won't be the same without you!  Register here and join us for a fun evening with good friends, good food, and a few surprises!

Mark your calendars for January 19, 2016, when we will have the honor of hosting an in-person Team Coaching presentation by Professor Peter Hawkins.  Thank you Yana Blackwelder for arranging this event.  Professor Hawkins was a featured speaker at ICF's September Neuroscience conference in London.  His impressive subject expertise includes Organizational Strategy, Leadership Development, Executive Coaching, Team Coaching, Coaching, and Mentoring.  Event registration information will be available shortly.

Stay tuned for few new initiatives launching in early 2016, including: Demystifying the ICF Credentialing Process, Coach/Mentor Program, NYC Chapter Book Club, and a new member breakfast. More information to follow.

What's up with Social Media? ICF NYC has a LinkedIn group and a Facebook page - check them out!  The LinkedIn group is here .  And, the Facebook group is here.  Hoping to see you and your insights there soon!

The Chapter's Community outreach is very active.  Our NYCHA project is starting up another round of pro-bono coaching.  Thanks to Joy Passey for leading the following coach volunteers on this project: Joy Passey; Gala Mars; Maria Caso; Asli Kosedag.  And, have room for one more.

As 2015 comes to a close, a special thanks goes to our Platinum Sponsor, Lee Hecht Harrison, for providing our meeting space.   Toni Johnson, Matthew Wolinski and David Silliman are the LHH behind the scenes team who set the room up, make sure the presentations work, and register our guests with building security. We're grateful to each for their generous spirit and kindness to our Chapter members and guests.

That's it for now.  Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season filled with good times, much joy and continued success.

All the best,
Margaret
