Expansion Update
We are five months into work on the new brewery across the street. In July the new roof and insulation was installed and the brewery basement was reinforced to support the added weight of a brewery. In August window and door openings were cut in the wall between the brewery and taproom. Most of the plumbing and all of the concrete work was finished in September

A hopeful chronology follows:

Oct.:  Electric and HVAC work begin.
Nov.: Storefront installed.  bathrooms, kitchens completed.
Dec.: Brewery equipment arrives; first test batches, Tap room bar and furnishings installed.
Jan.: First beer tapped to the public.
Specialty Beer of the Month: Hay Hop Black Beer & Short Trip-Simcoe

The Pangburn family grows some hops for us just north of town. This year the green beasts engulfed some hay bales nearby. We don't know if these cascade hops picked up some Iowa farm character, but we thought it would make a great dark beer for the fall season. We've also brewed another in our featured hop series, Short Trip IPA. This time we used Simcoe hops, a pungent, piney variety from the northwest.

Hay Hop Black Beer:
