President's Message

Sharon Mitchell

Happy New Year from Impact 100!!!!

As 2014 winds down and we begin 2015, I'd like to wish all our members and Non-Profit Partners a Happy & Peaceful New Year!

2014 was a wonderful year for Impact 100!  It marked our 13th Anniversary, and the first time ever we awarded THREE grants in one year as we awarded our 23rd, 24th and 25th grants.  Following the delightful opportunity to get to know many of our area's Non-Profits and to review over 100 Letters of Intent, Impact 100 awarded THREE grants of $109,000 each to Community Matters, Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati and Price Hill Will - MYCincinnati.  This brings the total grants awarded to the Greater Cincinnati community to over $2.8 Million!!

Another highlight of 2014 was the involvement of many of our members . . . over 100 members participated in Grant Review Committees and CIRC, and many more helped on standing committees.  Our hard-working Board developed and implemented a strategy, and worked tirelessly to recruit new members and to strengthen the organization.  Finally, Impact 100 continued to strengthen and simplify the Grant Review Process as we used the Letter of Intent for a second year.

That brings us to the exciting year ahead in 2015.  We are in the final stages of recruiting our 2015 members, and recruiting has been exceptionally strong.  We are tantalizingly close to reaching $400,000 in grant dollars, which would enable Impact 100 to give four $100,000 grants for the first time ever!!!  Please join us on January 22nd for our Membership Announcement Event.  We invite ALL our members to come to this free event to learn how much money we will be awarding in 2015. If interested in attending, please click here to register.

Since the Grant Review cycle begins early this year, we invite our members to sign up NOW to join a Grant Review Committee.  These Committees will begin meeting in January to review Letters of Intent, and will invite members to join again in early April for the review of full grant applications.

Finally, please join me in extending a special welcome to the three new members of the Impact 100 Board.  Sarah Buckley, the Not-for-Profit Outreach Coordinator joined the Board a few months ago to ensure a strong succession plan.  Joining the Board for the first time in January will be Julie Metzger, our new Communications Co-Chair.  And rejoining the Board in the role of Secretary is Yvonne Thomas.  These three individuals join the 17 returning Board members - for a very strong 2015 Board.

The 2015 Impact 100 Board Members include:

  • Sharon Mitchell, President
  • Lisa Kaminski, Vice President Recruiting
  • Donna Broderick, Treasurer & President Elect for 2016

Warm Regards,

Impact 100 Cincinnati - Sponsorships
Calling all Sponsors!

Sign up now for year-long exposure in 2015!

As you know, 100% of Impact 100 member donations are awarded to grant recipients so it is necessary for Impact 100 to seek additional donors, grants and sponsorship dollars in order to host the many events we have and to cover expenses and administration costs.

In previous years, Impact 100 solicited corporate sponsors only for the Annual Awards Celebration event. After careful consideration, we elected to enlist 2015 "annual" sponsors. In lieu of exposure at one annual event, our 2015 sponsors will receive year-long exposure on our website, at all events, as well as receive a host of additional exposure opportunity.

We expect this will be a win-win as our members will also have a greater opportunity to hear and learn more about each of our corporate sponsor's product/service offerings.

Most sponsorship levels are category exclusive so if you know of a company who might be interested, please have them contact us as soon as possible. For more information, contact [email protected].

Giving Tuesday

Impact 100 hosted our third annual GivingTuesday* event on December 2nd, where over 125 people mixed, mingled, and shared the spirit of GIVING at Performance Lexus Rivercenter!

This event was a huge success, and the energy in the room was incredible! It was great to hear from our Non-Profit Agency Partners - the three 2014 Grant Recipients (Literacy Network, MY Cincinnati and Community Matters) all gave a presentation, and they all received their first checks.  We even had lovely classical music played by three students from MY Cincinnati.  We also had moving presentations from two other past recipients: Stepping Stones (2011) and Building Value (2013).

Each of these organizations has had many successes - all with the funding that Impact 100 awarded!

With over $2.8 Million awarded in grants, right here in Greater Cincinnati, WE are making an IMPACT!!

*#GivingTuesday™ (#GT) is a movement started in 2012, to create a national day of giving to kick off the giving season added to the calendar on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Membership Installment Plan

Many thanks to our 2015 Members for helping us transform lives in our community! We'll know soon how many grants we will be awarding...

The new year has barely begun, however we are already planning for 2016 and working on recruiting members for 2016. Want to help? Email [email protected].

Are you ready to renew or begin your Impact 100 Membership? Consider a Membership Payment by Installments: For many of us, it is easier to make smaller payments throughout the year rather than one lump sum around the holidays! Paying by installment is easy to set up and ensures that your membership payment is completed before year end. No need for reminders or invoices. Click here for more details. With twelve months left in the year, your $1000 membership would only be $83.33 per month!

Support Impact 100 while Shopping!

We have two easy ways to support IMPACT 100 by doing the things you normally do - - shopping at Amazon and Kroger!

The holidays may be over...but you need a gift for your sister's birthday, or just have to have that one thing that Santa didn't get for you?  Whatever your shopping needs, we have the perfect solution for you!  Go to smile.amazon.com - select Impact 100 Inc as your charity, and start shopping! We even have a quick link to get you there faster!

By shopping at smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com, 0.5 percent of the value of your purchase will be donated to Impact 100. Please note that smile.amazon.com is the same Amazon you already know. Same products, same prices, same service.

Who I am?
President and Founder of the Asset Advisory Group, a fee-only financial planning and investment management company that's provided financial guidance to enhance the well-being of individuals and families since 1988.   Also a happy grandmother, mom and wife!

What got you involved in Impact 100?

I read about Impact 100 in an article in the Cincinnati Business Courier and was inspired by its purpose and focus, and decided I wanted to be a part of it.

What keeps you a member?

Over the years I've been able to be more or less involved, with years on the grant committees and others where I simply wrote a check due to time commitments with work.  But I am always inspired by what can be accomplished by a group of women who come together for good.
