Dear Neighbors,
At a time when CPS is facing great challenges, we here in the 43rd Ward strongly support our public schools.
That's why I am happy to announce that
Lincoln Park High will now have the use of the Near North Field, just south of North Avenue on Larrabee Street, for after-school games and practice.
This field, which features a track and football field, will host soccer this spring.
Lincoln Park High boasts
25 sports teams. Its
football team had an impressive 7-3 record last fall, and the boys soccer team were division champions with a 13-4 record.
But for years, our student athletes have had no home field for play or practice and have had to travel for every game and scrounge for practice space.
The Near North field
is located within the attendance boundaries of and is walking distance from the school, making it easier for students, families and neighbors to attend games. This will also lessen
the impact on Oz Park, which will continue to host LPHS baseball.
The field needs some rehabilitation, and the #1school1community team will be leading the effort. If you'd like to get involved in this exciting project, contact Adam Ochstein and Robin Fine at
I want to extend a special thanks to Alderman Walter Burnett (27th) for his support. Lincoln Park High includes part of his ward as well, we'll be working together to ensure that this field is an asset to the school and the surrounding community.
