NEWS YOU CAN USE

December 2015
" We make a living by what we get,
but we make a life by what we give.
"
                                                             - Winston Churchill

We at The Arc of Aurora make a living providing advocacy support for and with people with developmental disabilities.  However, we make a life by caring and impacting with passion, compassion, and expertise.

Many of you have given to The Arc of Aurora through our ColoradoGives campaign.  Others of you have made year end donations in honor of your advocate.  Some have had your employers match your donations.  To all who have given, THANK YOU!

Our doors have been open for you because of the others before you who gave.   To you who are still considering giving this year end, please do.  Please support advocacy tailored to individual needs that changes lives.  Please support nationally-recognized work to support justice for victims of crime who have developmental disabilities.  Please support the professional, competent response to your inquiry that is a hallmark of The Arc of Aurora.

Donations are tax deductible.  And appreciated.

Give now.  If you prefer to send or drop off a check, please do that:  1342 S. Chambers Road, Aurora   80017.  Just call to insure someone is in to receive you, that we're not all out in our community, helping to make lives better.

And however you celebrate these year end holidays, do so with our wishes for peace, good health, and enough prosperity to share!

Happy holidays!

What Our Members and Other Friends Are Saying About Us

~  "{Advocate name}, I think I would be close to the grave if I didn't have the support from you and The Arc. I am extremely grateful."
                                                 - AD, parent, Aurora

~  " I cannot tell you how much weight The Arc of Aurora and {individual advocate} in particular have taken off of my shoulders! The fear for my son, while not gone, is drastically reduced. {Advocate} validated the fact that we weren't "crazy parents going off the deep end," and that there were very serious issues surrounding our son in his school environment that needed to be addressed immediately. We didn't have to fight alone! I believe too, that bringing {advocate} and The Arc of Aurora into the situation made the district finally stand up and take notice. We weren't going to stand idly by and allow our son to be terrorized in his own school. ... So thank you for what you are doing for the special needs children in our community. Your work is appreciated. Your work is powerful. You're giving a VOICE to those who don't otherwise have one. Thank you, for fighting for my baby."
                                                   - KM, parent, Aurora

~  "... I REALLY want to thank you for the professional yet compassionate, good, realistic advice you showed me in our phone call ... Our family is so grateful for The Arc of Aurora and all you do! She {the advocate} was an excellent advocate for {our son} and had extensive knowledge regarding his rights as well as the rights we as parents had. I could not help to observe that the other side also had the highest respect for {the advocate} and the work she is doing. I felt that she went above and beyond of what was expected of her ..."
                                                     - KH, parent, Aurora
