Shumla welcomes our new Executive Director, Jessica Lee

Today, Jessica Lee begins her tenure as Shumla's new Executive Director.

Jessica will spearhead Shumla's administration and development efforts while Carolyn Boyd moves into the role of Research Director -- allowing her to focus entirely on Shumla's state-of-the-art documentation and research. Carolyn is "thrilled with these exciting changes" in our leadership structure at this important time in Shumla's history.

Jessica has a B.A. in Archaeology from Texas A&M University and an M.A. in Human Geography from the University of Texas at Austin. She leaves a Senior Consultant position in the Communications and Change Management Practice at Towers Watson to join the Shumla staff. Prior to working at Towers Watson, Jessica worked at the Smithsonian Institution and Crow Canyon Archaeological Center.

Along with her expertise and proven leadership, Jessica has a long history with Shumla and a true passion for the work we do. She studied under Carolyn while attending Texas A&M, and was the first paid employee of the organization after it was founded in 1998, acting as Assistant to the Director. She joined the Board of Directors in January, 2013, taking on the roles of Board Secretary and Chair of the Marketing and Development Committee.
By joining our staff once again, she is truly coming full circle.

Jessica stated, "I can't believe my good fortune to re-join the organization I have loved since it was founded and work every day to support and advance our important work preserving the rock art of the Lower Pecos through documentation, research and education."

We are so excited to welcome Jessica. It is a great time to join Shumla -- big things are happening. You'll be hearing more very soon!
