On Tuesday, October 27, 317 Main was the recipient of OTTO PIZZA Tuesday Night Fundraiser at Handy's in Yarmouth. At the height of dinner hours we packed the store with friends and live music! We received 8% of all purchases between 5-9PM. Thank you, OTTO Pizza!

25 artists came to Yarmouth Village
and painted what they saw.
317 Cafe hosted the juried show during the month of October.

Mill Street Market had an active inaugural season at 317 Main this summer with its lively mix of friendly vendors offering an array of produce and products! In keeping with 317 Main's emphasis on community, the deck became a stage where musicians and students could share their music, the lawn was filled with young children working on craft projects with teenage volunteers, and the market also featured a guest non-profit table open to any community organization in Yarmouth.
Mill Street Market is now collaborating with the Town of Yarmouth to expand in 2016. Great things are happening!

SUMMER CAMP Recap
The Summer Camps at 317 Main were a huge hit again this year! We provided over three weeks of fun, music, and activity for a record number of kids.
The Acoustic Discovery Camp (ages 6-10) and Acoustic Adventure Camp (age 10 and above) were filled to capacity.

Fall 2015 Notes

I have wonderful and important news to share with you. On October 27th, we purchased 317 Main Street, the beautiful building that has been home to so much joy and music-making over the last 11 years. We are very grateful to Peter Milliken, the building's former owner, for his vision in creating 317 Main. Peter's energy, hard work, commitment to community, and belief in a fun and engaging approach to music education will continue to be guiding principles for our organization.
As we enter into this next exciting phase of our evolution, we are looking ahead to the next 10 years. The 317 Main Board of Directors is working closely with our staff and talented teaching artists to plan for our continued growth and success. We have met with the Town Planning Board in Yarmouth and engaged an architect to evaluate what we can do to create much needed additional teaching studios and a larger community space that will allow us to host concerts, recitals, dances, and other programming options that our current space cannot accommodate.
Over the next few months, we want to hear your thoughts, your interests, and your dreams for 317 Main. Please reach out to me or any of our Board, faculty, or staff members.
We are incredibly proud of 317 Main and thankful to you for your interest and support. Together, we can continue to do great things.

Maine illustrator and Maine College of Art faculty member, Scott Nash donated the design of the 317 shirt.

UPDATE ON 317 CAFE

Please extend a warm welcome to Jenn Legnini of Turtle Rock Farm! Jenn is a chef who has been running a craft canning and small batch baking business out of our commercial kitchen on the lower level. 317 has been discussing different opportunities for the cafe; in the interim, Jenn has been providing us a small but wonderful selection of snacks and drinks based on the jar (honor) system. Please thank her for keeping up one of the most beloved spaces in the building!

New Members of Our Community

New to the 317 Main Board of Directors:
 John Duffy is a partner and owner in Cribstone Capital Management, a registered investment advisory firm based in Brunswick and Cumberland. An avid fan of outdoor activities from cycling to hiking to snowboarding, he and his family enjoy all that New England has to offer. A beginner mandolin player, he and his fiddle-playing daughter Teagan, are trying to convince his wife and other daughter to join the family band! Their active family lives in Cumberland Foreside.
Clayton Kyle is a founder and the CEO of CLYNK, an innovative container recycling company that is available at Hannaford Supermarkets throughout Maine and through licensees in Oregon and New Brunswick, CA. He is also an owner and board member of Maine Hardware in Portland. He and his wife live in Freeport.
Returning to the 317 Main Board of Directors:
 Alexandra Maurer has musical children who started their paths at 317 in its founding days. She is a licensed acupuncturist. Since 1994 she has worked in both public health and private practice in the Greater Portland. She lives in Freeport with her husband, three children, and a variety of fur and feathered animals.
Hans Underdahl
has been a 29 year resident of Yarmouth and a g
uitarist for over 50 years. Having been brought into the 317 orbit by its founder, Peter Milliken,
eight
years ago, he now thinks it is
the best original idea any friend of his ever had. Hans served on the Board of the Maine Island Trail Association and has been a longtime Trustee of the Portland Museum of Art and a past Chairman of the Board. Professionally, Hans is an investment advisor with the Royal Bank of Canada's American wealth management division.
New to the 317 Main Staff:
Even if you h aven't met her yet, Amy Sinclair may look familiar from her Emmy-winning journalism days, the Yarmouth Community Garden, or the Mill Street Farmers' Market.
317's collaboration with Amy in creating the new market was a great fit from the start and she is pleased to take on a bigger role at 317 as Director of Communication and Marketing. She looks forward to sharing its stories and music with a broader audience.
 Jake Hoffman is 317 Main's new Partnership Program Coordinator. 317 has built a robust partnership program over the last six years and provides music education and enrichment programs to area schools, non-profits and other social service organizations. He is currently developing and implementing a new program at the East End Community School in Portland.
Jake was a member of Tumbling Bones, a touring folk outfit that taught educational workshops in addition to their performances in ten countries and twenty states. He also worked with Guitar Doors which provides songwriting workshops to youth and adults in Maine prisons. Jake teaches old-time banjo and guitar and loves harmony singing, square dances, 1920s recordings and unaccompanied ballads.
Moving on...
Thank you to Kate Campbell-Strauss who has built an incredible foundation and structure for our Partnership Program as its coordinator for the past year and a half. She has decided to focus more of her time and energy towards teaching at 317 Main and performing with her band, Downeast Soul Coalition.
And we said farewell to one of the founding teaching faculty of 317 Main and a member of the popular Jerks of Grass, Jason Phelps. He has gone to explore the left coast in search of new adventures. We wish him all the best!

A 317 parent recently told me, "317 fills my son's soul more than anything he's ever experienced." This is what our donors are supporting.
Thank you to all who have already made a gift to 317 for our 2015-16 year. As a non-profit, we rely on your tax-deductible donations to make up the difference between our tuition and the real cost of the 317 experience. Thanks to our generous supporters, we've already raised over $135,000 toward our $340,000 fundraising goal this year. This includes $32,000 in recent grants from the Maine Arts Commission, Bob Crewe Foundation, Sam L. Cohen Foundation, and RBC Wealth Management.
Our goal is to have 100% of our community members participating in giving to our annual fund. Every dollar is important.
