 Hello Kringles!

This newsletter is a move into an "action" area for DS2016.

It is time to start organizing the committees and volunteers for the convention.  There are lots of opportunities to be involved in DS2016.

Details for all of this is outlined below.

With almost 700 now registered to attend DS2016, it definitely needs to be organized.  But, it should also be fun, educational and beneficial for all who attend.

So, before I go any further, let me say thank you to all who have already contributed and to all who are planning on helping at the convention.  Without all of your support, DS2016 could not happen.

I do hope everyone likes the new moniker for our group.   I believe the term "Kringles" is a great way to bring ever member of our extended family all under one roof.

Santacerely,

Santa Tim Connaghan

General Chairman

VOLUNTEER AND CHAIRPERSON REGISTRATION

DS2016 is searching for some special Santas and Mrs. Claus to help coordinate and direct the many events and activities at the convention.  Or, to just be the 'worker-bees'  that help carry out the many tasks each committee is responsible for.

During the past six months a wonderful group of Santas, Mrs. Claus and other holiday professionals have contacted us or actually signed up to work at the convention.  But we still need more

With-in the convention we will have many committees, each responsible for various tasks and supported by over 100 volunteers committed to presenting a great convention for all who attend.

To lead some of the events, we  are searching for some top level volunteers to chair a few of these committees .  If you are interested in a special area, please contact Santa Tim at (631) 871-4901 or by email at  [email protected]

And to support the Chairpersons, they will need even more volunteers.

To see a list of committees, just visit the Committee Page at our web site.

VOLUNTEER AND CHAIRPERSON SIGN-UPS
In order to do this and keep it organized, we have a special registration page for volunteers and Chairpersons.   Additionally we also have a special page for Workshop presenters.

Even if you sent Santa Tim an email, explaining your offer to volunteer or present a workshop, you still need to fill one of the forms.  This all becomes part of a special data base that the Volunteer Chairman wil be woring on you want to talk with others who are going to Discover Santa 2016?

And if he has not contacted you, please call him.

VOLUNTEER COMPENSATION
And volunteers should be rewarded for their work.  So, there will be stipends and special credits given to those who are working.  General Volunteers will receive a minimum stipend for giving us a few hours of their time to work on an event or handle a special task.

Depending on how many hours and events a volunteer works, that amount could be higher.  Committee Chairpersons and Co-Chairs will also receive compensation in the form of stipends, complimentary registration, lodging or a combination of one or more of these areas.

If you are interested in volunteering, or Chairing a Committee you need to fill out our  Volunteer / Chairperson Application

Currently we have received forms from the following and we are just starting to contact each of them.  Some volunteers and Chairpersons have already been contacted and are already working but if your name is not on the list below, please help us by visiting the web site and filling out a volunteer form.

CURRENT CHAIRPERSONS - OUR STEERING COMMITTEE

The key leadership for the convention comes from the Steering Committee, which consists of the Chairpersons of the many Committees.  You can always find an updated list with email addresses on the main web site at www.DiscoverSanta2016.com/Committees

WE ARE THE KRINGLES!

I do hope everyone likes the new moniker for our group.   I believe the term "Kringles" is a great way to bring every member of our extended family all under one roof.

This includes Santas of all types!  Real Bearded, Traditional and Theatrically bearded, big, small, tall and short.  It also includes all of the Mrs. Claus, our children, helpers and elves, yes, everyone!

Oh, you may also see us sometimes referred to as "Santas and Mrs. Claus," "Ambassadors," "Delegates," "Represenatives," "Holly Jollys" and other endearing terms, but I do hope that for the most part we stick to the term "Kringles"

I think that everyone in our group who dons the red suit should be called a Santa!  Not a Santa Helper.  Not a Santa
impersonator
(A favorite with news reporters).  Nor any other type of name that puts any of us below another..  In the eyes of any child each one of us is Santa!

Of course the children know there is a real Santa.  And when the convention starts, all of our publicity and promotion will state, "The "Real" Santa is at the convention.  You just have to guess which one it is!"

So when a child asks, "Are you the Real Santa?"  you can reply in whatever positive way you feel fits the moment.  I like answering with, " Let's see.  Real beard? Check!  Real tummy? Check!  I think I am Santa?  What do you think?"  It is so wonderful to have the little personal moments with the Children.

And the Same goes for Mrs. Claus.  The Real Mrs. Claus will also be at the Convention.   And as it is with Santas, it will be up to the children and the families to figure out who the Real Mrs. Claus is!
DS2016 REGISTRATION

Registration and Sign-Ups for Discover Santa 2016 is an ongoing task being head up by Taunya Lay at Branson Ticket and Travel (BT&T). She coordinated our 2006 convention and with the team of experts at BT&T she is again doing a fantastic job.

We have packages to fit every Santa and Mrs. Claus' pocket book. Click here to view the Registration Page.

We set up the convention registration knowing full-well that most of the convention attendees would be Seniors and those on controlled or limited income flow.  We do need an initial deposit, but after that you can pay something monthly.  The balance needs to be paid on or around March 1, 2016.  Taunya can give you all the details.

By the way, deposits for those not needing a hotel room are much less.

You can view all of the packages on our web site and submit your registration at any time.

Once your registration form is received, Taunya will contact you.  Usually within 48 hours. She will review your registration and work with you in paying for your registration.  If you need, she can work with you in splitting up the payments.

Or Call Taunya at Branson Ticket & Travel 800-432-4202
