Greetings! 

July is alight with fireflies and fireworks. This month marks not only our nation's birthday, but also the 100th birthday of the Waynesboro Public Library. On July 14, you can celebrate this important fixture of our Waynesboro community. You also won't want to miss Waynesboro's ever-popular traditions of the Summer Extravaganza and Rock N' Ridgeview. Balmy temperatures, starry skies, and live music make a winning combination in Waynesboro, where good times come naturally!

Waynesboro Public Library Centennial Celebration

In July 1915, the Carnegie Foundation presented a grant of $8,000 for construction of a library building in Waynesboro. This first library building is still located on Walnut Avenue across from Fishburne Military Academy. 

In 1969, a new library was built on the corner of Wayne Avenue and 14th Street. It has seen two renovations since then. A 1979 renovation (shown above) added additional square footage to the east side of the building, along with a lower level. A second renovation, finished in 2012, consolidated the children's area on the main floor and the local history rooms on the lower level. The entry, circulation desk area, and offices were upgraded and a public stairway to the lower level was added.

On July 14, the library will celebrate its 100th birthday with an array of events, including children's activities, live music, and a ceremony at 1:00 p.m. with guest speakers.

Rock N' Ridgeview
July 16, 23, 30 & August 6, 13
 
The Summer Music Series continues, this time at the Ridgeview Park Amphitheater. Grab your spot on the hill, spread your blanket, grab a bite at the food truck, then just kick back and relax. The band starts at 6:00 pm. Come out and rock out! 

Concerts are FREE, with food for purchase.

Going shopping? Shop the farmers market first. Purchasing from local farmers provides so much more than great tasting nutritious food! These purchases also support growers and their families whose homes and farms are located where we live and work. When you shop here you are a positive part of the local economy!

  

Find the freshest produce, baked goods, artisan crafts, plants, meat and more at the Farmers Market!  You'll find several new vendors this year offering beef cuts, pork, lamb, and rabbit!
