Exciting News for the Current CARES Year

CARES support for Graduate Degrees and Professional Growth

Are you pursuing an ADVANCED DEGREE beyond your BA in Child Development?

Do you ALREADY HAVE A DEGREE and are taking PROFESSIONAL GROWTH training?

If you work in a publicly funded child care program, you could be eligible for a CASH Stipend from the CARES program!

Funding that had been removed from the CARES program was restored when Governor Brown approved the State budget in June. Child Action, Inc. and the Sacramento CARES program are excited to now have funds to support applicants working on their graduate degrees.   There is also funding for Track 5A which awards stipends to providers who have a degree and are taking professional growth trainings.

If you are taking classes right now for your graduate degree you could be eligible for a stipend of $1900 to $3000.

If you already have a degree and are taking professional growth trainings, you could earn $750.

Contact Child Action, Inc. (916) 369-0191 for more information about CARES and to register for an orientation, or check our Calendar of Events for CARES Orientation dates.

Track 4 Correction

There was a misprint in the 2015 CARES Booklet concerning the number of units that qualify Track 4 applicants for a full time stipend of $3000 or a part time stipend of $1900.

Please be advised that:

Full Time is MORE than 6 units at a 4 year college or university.

Part Time is 6 or LESS units at a 4 year college.

The online booklet reflects this correction which you can view here on Child Action, Inc.'s website.

If you have any questions, please call Kelli Newman at Child Action, Inc. (916) 369-3356.
