October 2015                                                                                                                                         Issue #110
Hello Neighbor,

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!!  Our Adopt a Family 4 the holidays Program is now open.  Currently, 22 of our nonprofit partners have submitted 327 families for help.   If you have "adopted" through us in the past, you know the joy of sharing your blessings with others who are less fortunate.

Our Halloween costume drive, Operation Candy Corn has 33 collectors such as Carnival Fun Team, Dadeland and lots of schools.  Check our website regularly, follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook to find out how you can get involved this holiday season.

Our most popular fundraiser every year is at LIPS in Ft Lauderdale on October 21.  Join our community stars, Max Tucci, Alyssa Lovitt, Susan Renneisen and Alonzo Reed for An Evening With Dreamgirls.

Tickets are available here...VIP seating is limited.

Sincerely,

Lynne Cameron
Executive Director

ADOPT A FAMILY 4 THE HOLIDAYS

For the past 23 years, Neighbors 4 Neighbors has connected those in need with those who can help, and your support has been critical to our success. Because of you, last year's Adopt a Family 4 the Holidays program helped 3,537 people.

Here's the breakdown:  1,237 children and 677 adults were matched with caring adopters.  An additional 259 people, not eligible for "adoption" were served through gift cards, and 1,364 toys were collected and distributed.  In total, Neighbors 4 Neighbors, and you, served 3,537 people through Adopt a Family 4 the Holidays.

More families than ever are being submitted for help by our nonprofit partners, and their stories will touch your heart.   As a registered adopter you can browse family profiles, and select based on location, nonprofit provider, or number of family members.  Best of all, you get to meet the family you are helping, and share the joy.

In a post survey, most adopters tell us it is the highlight of their holiday.  Can't do the "Adopt" thing?  We need gift cards to serve large families, and those not able to have a one on one experience.  Operation Elf provides a $25 Publix gift card for each family member, as well as a $25 gift card to a retailer for each child under 18.

Although human kindness is our greatest asset, we depend on monetary donations to purchase gift cards and provide emergency assistance.   Your financial contribution, in any amount, enable us to continue providing hope and a hand up to those in need this holiday season.

Neighbors 4 Neighbors is a 501©3 nonprofit organization, and your contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law. You may make a secure credit card donation by going to our website at www.neighbors4neighbors.org  You may also mail a check to:  Neighbors 4 Neighbors, 8900 NW 18 Terrace, Doral FL 33172.

A EVENING WITH DREAM GIRLS!

It's just three weeks until our annual fundraiser on
Oct. 21st  at  Lip's in Fort Lauderdale!

This year's theme is An Evening With Dream Girls and this
"One Night Only" Event will be over the top with fun, food
and of course you, our friends.

The evening begins at 6pm with a VIP Reception.

With your support last year, our event committee headed by
Max Tucci raised over $20,000 for our Adopt a Family program.

This year our Dream team of Dream Girls includes, Alyssa Lovitt,
Alonzo Reed, Max Tucci and Susan Renneisen.

Every vote means more help for the families in our
Adopt A Family 4 the Holiday Program.

If you've been to this event, then you know it's not to be missed.
If you haven't been, make this your year to join us.
And, no rubber chickens here, the food at Lip's is divine.

We are thrilled by the response so far to our 3rd Annual Operation Candy Corn Costume Drive.  As of now, 25 businesses, schools and groups are collecting costumes in Dade & Broward County.

Last year, we collected almost 1,700 costumes and with all these great collections going on now, we know that number will be even higher this year.

To find a drop location near you just log on to our website today. All sites are accepting new and gently used costumes for infants through teens.  Please drop off your costumes by Oct. 20th so we can make sure they get into the hands of all those great kids!

APPLY TODAY FOR EMERGENCY OR EVACUATION ASSISTANCE

Neighbors 4 Neighbors is a non-profit organization 501 (c) 3 originally created by CBS4 in 1992 in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. As South Florida recovered, CBS4 made a commitment to make Neighbors an integral part of its community service program.  Using the power of television to reach people who want to help and by forging relationships with important community and business leaders, Neighbors has evolved into a valuable resource for individuals and families in our community facing critical needs.
