**DATE CHANGE**
2016 NESHCo Conference--May 31-June 2

The NESHCo Board of Trustees has changed the date of the organization's 2016 conference.   The conference will now be held May 31-June 2 in Providence, RI.

It had come to our attention that the previous date conflicted with a national conference and would limit our ability to provide members with a top-notch event.  This date change will ensure attendees are provided with a dynamic conference with a diverse selection of exhibitors and nationally-recognized speakers.

Watch your inbox after the new year for the conference brochure and registration instructions.  We hope to see you there!

2015 Webinar Series
End-of-life marketing-the toughest healthcare communications job you'll ever love!

Thursday, December 10, 2015, 9-10 a.m.

Presented by: Lynn Robbins, director of marketing and public affairs at Parkland Medical Center and Doreen O'Toole (retired), former senior communications specialist at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida

Marketing end-of-life care is never without its challenges. Just the words "end-of-life care" evoke a sense of sacred ground and privacy. Marketing this specialized service requires heightened sensitivity to the patient, their loved ones, the caregivers and the community in which they live. Join us for a unique discussion on how to reach a market that is often under-served and not understood.

Lynn Robbins is director of marketing and public affairs at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH. Prior to joining Parkland, she served as regional director of business development for HCS--Home Healthcare, Hospice & Community Services in Keene and Peterborough. Lynn and her family returned to the New England six years ago from Florida where she worked as director of communications for Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, serving 1,100 patients a day in a five-county service area. She also worked in marketing leadership positions in advertising, healthcare and public broadcasting. Her expertise includes branding, marketing communications, community relations and public affairs. Lynn is a  board member for the New England Society of Healthcare Communications, and has served on the boards of Monadnock at Home, Peterborough Rotary Club and is a graduate of Leadership Monadnock.

Doreen O'Toole began her professional life at The Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville, Florida. After 10 years there she became a chamber of commerce professional, working in communications at the Jacksonville, FL, Providence, RI, and Daytona Beach, FL chambers. Her passion for community outreach lead her to WJCT, Jacksonville's public broadcasting station. At WJCT she  was responsible for advertising and promotion of the regional Jacksonville Jazz Festival, implemented the station's first advertising campaign on commercial and cable television, and handled all media relations. Doreen then moved to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida where she worked for nine years developing collateral materials for the external consumer audiences, planning community relations strategies, and managing media relations, advertising buys and promotion of special events in the five-county area served by the organization.

STAT: How Paris Hospitals Dealt with the Aftermath

By Rebecca Robbins
Originally  published by STAT

In the minutes after the terrorist assault on Paris recently, city health officials activated a coordinated response to deal with the mass carnage long before the full extent of it became clear.

That set into a motion a flurry of heightened emergency activity that lasted nearly a full day: Medical workers mobilized to the scenes of the attacks. Hospital staff shuffled beds. Doctors rushed shooting victims into surgery.

That local response, called the "Plan Blanc," was part of France's national emergency response plan.
