As school resumes, Bright Futures will start the second year of making a positive impact on students' lives.
This year Bright Futures is excited to add a
Mentoring Program
. It's as easy as having lunch with a child each week, but the impact can far surpass most people's imagination. It is simple things such as encouragement, guidance, listening, empathy, kindness, sharing, understanding, and caring that can make a difference in young peoples' lives.
What is expected of a mentor:
- Commitment - If you make the commitment, stick with it. Do not let these children down.
- Positive Outlook - Children get enough negativity. Your are there to be a positive influence.
- Encourage - Telling a child they can do anything they set their mind to is something a child can never get enough of.
How to get started:
- If more than one person from a business will be a mentor, please assign someone to be the contact with Bright Futures.
- Complete the application and waiver below.
- Submit a check payable to Atlas Risk Management for $12 for each person applying. (Can be grouped into one payment)
- Send all information to the Miami Area Chamber of Commerce.
- After the background check is complete, a Bright Futures representative will contact you in regards to the school and student you have been assigned.
You may call the Chamber at 918-542-4481 with any questions.
