Funds Given for Homeless Children Education

Topeka Shawnee County Homeless Task Force presented a check totaling $7,684.55 to the Topeka Rescue Mission's Children's Palace on August 12, 2015.

TRM's Children's Palace is currently under construction with plans to open in early Spring of 2016. The Palace will host a total of 10 classrooms and other spaces that will accommodate 124 homeless children ages 0 to pre-kindergarten.

The generous donation from Topeka Shawnee County Homeless Task Force will assist efforts to break those cycles and address the issue of poverty and homelessness through support and education.

The Topeka and Shawnee County Homeless Task Force is a volunteer organization administered by Community Resources Council (CRC.) The Homeless Task Force administers the federal Continuum of Care program.

CRC Staff Honored

Join us in congratulating to our very own Emma Starkey, Director of Communications and Education, for being honored as one of Greater Topeka's 20 under 40.

At CRC, Emma is responsible for implementing educational events, developing community relations, and overseeing all communications, public relations, and marketing. She is a huge supporter of the Topeka Civic Theater, is a Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor and is Co-Chair of Heartland Healthy Neighborhoods focusing on policy development. Emma was a member of the Leadership Greater Topeka Class of 2015. She also serves on the United Way of Greater Topeka and the YWCA Boards.
