Greetings!

Most of us have been picking up snippets from our television screen and we stand horrified to see yet another major earthquake follow the first and there have been further lesser earthquakes in the intervening periods. Most people in Nepal are still not confident to enter their homes even if they have survived these earthquakes. Many thousands of people have died and the death toll is still going up.

We have heard that many of the Hindus are now turning away from their gods as they have been shaken not only physically but also in their faith in the gods. The believers in Nepal are well able to share the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in these circumstances. The certainty in the gospel is that our Lord has assured his people, "I will never leave you or forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). Psalm 46 is surely a great gospel message in these days as not only Nepal but also Sikkim and the Darjeeling Hills District are being shaken too.

We rejoice greatly as there has been a wonderful response from our supporting churches and individuals across Australia to make contributions through the IRFA Project Account for immediate relief from the Nepal Earthquakes.  The IRFA Council has sent a financial assignment directly to the Nepal Campus Church, which is being organised and pastored by Pastor Uma Sharma. We are still receiving gifts and there will be a second assignment made as soon as possible. We can report that these gifts are being well used and really appreciated.

If you would like to make contributions to assist directly to those that are effected by the Nepal earthquake the best way that we can get such help to those that are on the ground, as quickly as possible, is by making your contribution by bank transfer into the IRFA Project Account directly and our Treasurer will make the transfer to Nepal expeditiously. Our banking process is well tried as we have made these transfers regularly in the past, even since the earthquake, and they have been received properly and we can check up that this money has gone to the right cause. The banking details is as follows:

Bank: Commonwealth Bank

Account Name: Indian Reformed Fellowship - Australia

BSB: 064-173

Account Number: 10474942

Please designate the transfer as: "Nepal Earthquake Help"

Of course, we can receive "cheques" and you can use the "Donations" facility on our website but that does attract a fee for service. Please designate your gifts as "Nepal Earthquake Help" so we know that the purpose of your help is made as you determine.

What follows is some details of where our brothers and sisters are at in relationship to the Nepal Earthquake Crisis to give you some background to the situation. More to follow and thank you for your interest and attention.

Yours in His all sufficient grace

Dear Rev. Richard,

On that Saturday afternoon (25th April) we were worshipping our mighty God we felt huge shake then we run out from our worship hall. It was really hard to stand in open place also so that I did request to our church member to sit on the floor. From 8 months child to elder people we were there. Everyone is crying "earthquake...earthquake".  By the God's grace we were safe but we did not know what were the real situation of our families who were in different places of this country and the situation of our country.

After one and half hours later we prayed and closed our worship service in open place then started to go in our houses in different parts of Kathmandu valley. When we came out from our church, then we saw the terrible disaster of our city which was out of our thinking.

After four nights of tent we entered in our houses but we couldn't sleep well. Still now these days we are hearing "earthquake came... earthquake came".

Thousand and Thousand people died and collapsed million houses. Our mighty God kept us safe to serve our people and to proclaim his precious name among our people.

Even now these also many people are staying in tent because many houses are collapse and damaged and it is difficult to find the place. Many people they don't have rice and other things to cook food and safe drinking water.

One church member "BISHWA KAPALI's mother got injury in her head. Three days after she discharged from hospital. Now she is in rest. Ghyan Ramtel and Sajan Maharjan lost their houses and some other church members lost their possessions.

Thank you very much for your continuing prayer & great financial help. We are serving our people and sharing God's love in these days. We are providing some money to take medicine, providing money to buy tents and to buy their daily needed things and providing a pack of rice for one family for our church members.

We are also providing a three days food packet in our local area. Until yesterday 23 families took these packets from us.

All our church members are saying thanks to you in Christ name. Please accept it. Thank you very much for your love for my family and my church family and for my country.

Thank you very much for being with us. I do appreciate it.

In Christ,
Uma

Kathmandu-Birgunj-Gorkha-Kathmandu

Dear Rev. Richard,

This is week we are going to distribute relief supplies in Gorkha district.

I and two brothers from our church we are going to go Birgunj to buy relief supplies so that tomorrow early in the morning we are going to Birgunj. Birgunj is nearly 250 KM far from Kathmandu. We will get Birgunj on tomorrow evening. We will buy supplies and load supplies in two trucks. From Birgunj to Gorkha it takes nearly 10 hours in truck. On Wednesday at 6 pm we will get Gorkha district, Saurpani VDC. We will distribute all the relief supplies on Thursday and try to get Kathmandu on Friday evening from Gorkha to Kathmandu.

Gorkha is completely hilly district. One side hill and another river. Please pray for our safe travel and relief work.

There is no electricity in Gorkha due to earthquake so that I couldn't communicate by mobile or email in these four days. I will communicate to you on Sunday afternoon.

Much appreciate for your prayers.

In Christ,
Uma
