Hosanna's E-Update

October 7, 2015

Ho Ho Ho...or BAH! HUMBUG!

"Therefore the LORD himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel."  ~From the Prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 7.14)

Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

OK- this is getting ridiculous! We are just barely into the month of October and I am receiving Christmas catalogues in the mail.   This past weekend I was in one of my favorite retailers and they are ALREADY decked out for Christmas. Are we ready for this? I don't mean to be a scrooge- but what happened to Halloween and Harvest and Thanksgiving?? What do you think? Should retailers ho-ho-hold-off for a bit?

With Christmas screaming at us- how do we as people of God prepare for the Season of Advent, let alone the birth of the Savior? How might our preparations be different this year- so that the birth of Jesus can truly be a life-changing event? Let's talk about it.

See you in Church!
                                ~  Pastor Linda
THIS SUNDAY
  • Milestone Ministry for PreK-3rd graders: God's Story in My Life-Spark Story Bible. Students receive their very own Spark Story Bible during the 10:30am worship service. Lunch & learning follows the service for students and their families. TODAY is the deadline to register for this session. Contact church office now to register your child (651-464-5502).

Thank you to Erik Hokeness who, with the help of his 4-yr-old daughter Britta, designed and installed new shrubs at the entrance to Door B (lower level). Also thanks to other GET members who helped removed the old overgrown shrubs and prepared the area for the new plantings. This improvement creates a beautiful, welcoming approach to all who pass through these doors.

Facilities & Grounds Action Team

As we enter the 13th year of being in our church building, we need to be mindful of our role of being good stewards of what is given to us.
Just as with your own home, over time equipment breaks down and needs repair, systems fail and need to be replaced.

Do you have skills in plumbing or electrical?
Do you know how to read blueprints or pound a nail?
Do you have experience scheduling jobs or projects?
Do you enjoy getting your hands dirty?

We are looking for people possessing such skills and are willing to be part of this Action Team to help Hosanna keep our facility and grounds looking good and in good operating condition. This is not a committee requiring attendance at meetings but rather a team of individuals with expertise or experience in particular fields who are willing to advise or otherwise help in resolving an issue relating to their area of expertise when then need arises.

Please consider being a part of this Action team. Sign up on a Yellow Page and drop in the offering basket or look for the sign-up table in the lobby (lower level) after worship on Sunday.
