Save Time, Money and Problems by Knowing.... Simply stated Bronze and Brass Valves are not the same and should not be considered interchangeable in all cases. It is true that Milwaukee and Hammond Valve are proud to offer both materials of construction for Gate, Globe, Check and Ball Valves. Both have been designed with the materials of construction in mind and both will render excellent service when used properly. The differences in these metals is real and service conditions can greatly affect their performance. Brass products can be attacked by dezincification when used under certain water conditions. Bronze valve alloys have been proven over the years and generally will be less likely to have any corrosion issues. Making this important decision with only price in mind is not in the best interest of the end user. Knowing when and where to use these material needs to be key in the decision process. While that may be difficult we are able to help. Please take a few moments to read our published article Brass or Bronze in PME Magazine written by Geoff McLaughlin V.P. of Technical Sales at Milwaukee Valve Company and learn more about proper valve selection. |
