Are you ready for an awesome Autumn? I know I am! Last week we welcomed the change of seasons at our wonderful Autumnal Equinox Service, where we reflected on the balance in our lives, gave thanks for our abundant blessings, and began our spiritual preparations for the months ahead. A hearty congratulations to Deacon Martha Saenz for yet another first in her ministry: her first as celebrant of one of ISD's four seasonal services.

Autumn is a time of harvest! It is time to harvest the seeds we planted in the spring and over the summer months. And just what were those seeds anyway? This season I invite all of us to make the time to really reflect on all of the many blessings that we are harvesting. Not just the ones that we know are Divinely given, but those blessings that we intentionally planted seeds for - and have been working to manifest - throughout the last several months.

What's in YOUR harvest? What good have you manifested that you intended for you? For your life? for your relationships? And what were all of the ways you made it happen? It can be a freeing epiphany when we consciously review and identify all of the ways we co-create our goodness with the Divine. What's in YOUR harvest?

This week, we'll conclude the fascinating exploration of The Essenes on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. Led by our founder and spiritual advisor Rev. James De Biasio, this course looks at the life and times of the mysterious sect of Judiasm, made known by the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, that was likely to have many of Christianity's earliest founders as members of the community. There will be plenty of review of previous classes, so you can attend the last class and still get some wonderful knowledge and insight!

Rev. Kathy Gregg begins a four week course on Psychic Discovery and Development, where she will not only offer backround and insight about different psychic modalities, but will help you identify the modality that works best through you! The course will run for four Thursdays, beginning October 1 at 7:30 p.m.

And don't forget to place your empanadas order! The deadline to order these delicious pockets of deliciousness, made by our beloved Ina Russell, is this Sunday, October 4. They are just $2.50 each and freeze well, so you can stock up for all of your upcoming holiday entertaining. Check out our empanadas web page, order via paypal or download the order form and return to Rev. Patricia Makin or Rev. Olivia Hunter on Sunday before or after service. Delivery to ISD is scheduled for Sunday, October 18.

So much going on! Check out ISD's October calendar here, our Facebook page here, and our Instagram account here. - then check back again and again for updates! There's always something exciting happening!

Welcome back, Everyone!

Clothed in mystery and forgotten by history, this remarkable aesthetic Jewish cult may hold a glimpse into the life and times of Jesus. Their beliefs, practices and apocalyptic philosophy-fascinating in themselves-now reach from antiquity to bring remarkable new light on the development of early Christianity. With the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the historical treasure of a barren and desolate desert community comes a glimpse of one of the most fascinating-and for us, revealing-peoples of the ancient Judaic world.

Join us as we explore the history and influence of The Essenes!
