Dear Friends,

This summer Vineyard youth were with Gandhi's Grandson Arun at our  Youth Leadership Summit They were inspired by his message:  Let's Be the Change We Want to See in the World.

This became our touchstone for MVYLI's yearlong program with community service projects like organizing a free movie screening He Named Me Malala with the Martha's Vineyard Film Society and joining a Beach Clean Up with BioDiversity Works.

We're grateful for our wonderful MVYLI Project Coordinator Gia Winsryg-Ulmer who is expanding our MVYLI Mentor Program by emphasizing writing with MVYLI Voices, inspiring speakers like Dr. Yuki Honjo and Market36 entrepreneurs and a Field Trip to Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. We invite you to our 6th Annual Job Shadow Day Reception in February.

Thanks to your support, we're helping to make dreams come true. It remains free and accessible to all Vineyard youth ages 14-22. MVYLI's 5-Year Report highlights our success, including our Performance Metrics. MVYLI's first alumni graduated from college in 2015, many are first in their family to attend college.

We sincerely appreciate your continued support for the coming year.

MVYLI is very much aligned with my 5-year plan for Martha's Vineyard Public Schools. In the past, our students have greatly benefitted from MVYLI's emphasis on critical thinking, problem solving, expanding their horizons and helping them think about their future. I'm especially pleased to see this year's focus on writing.
