 Coordinator's Corner

Jutta von Gontard

Winter has come and gone, Spring has come and gone, Winter... you get the picture: it's transition time! I'm happy to say that transitions at the Chapter have been smoother than the recent weather.

There's been a seamless leadership transition at the Social Groups Committee with Maria Francis stepping down and Linda McEnroe stepping up as the new Co-coordinator and newest Steering Committee member.  Equally exciting is the fact that Virginia Asman and Margie Berkowitz will be sharing responsibilities for our chapter communications. Margie is keeping - and updating  - all contact lists, while Virginia will be responsible for designing and distributing the monthly newsletter and other member communications. Thank you Maria, Linda, Margie, and Virginia for sharing your time and talents!

Monthly Meeting

The March meeting will be, as usual, on the fourth Monday of the month:
Monday, March 23, from 5:45 to 7:30 at
Church of Christ on 1205 Galisteo x Cordova.

Please note that the meetings now start at 5:45 pm and that we no longer have Tuesday afternoon meetings.

March program:

THE JOYS OF GETTING RIGHT WITH GETTING OLDER

Christine McHugh
Christine McHugh will give us an inside look into reinvention via producing and directing the short video "Older Ladies", among others. Visit YouTube for a sneak preview.

Christine McHugh is a Theatre and Film Director and on the board for New Mexico Women in Film. She has recently relocated to Santa Fe after 25 years in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Bring your dancing shoes....
for this exhilarating look at having fun as we age.

Naraya Stein

Our February meeting last Monday was a big success with presenter Naraya Stein "busting some myths" about life purpose.

Here is Naraya's contact information and website, should you have missed the meeting:

Thanks to the program committee and Naraya for an energizing program!

Mixing it Up!
News from the Social Groups Committee

For close to three years, the Social Groups Committee

(Ann Church and Maria Francis, co-cordinators, Linda McEnroe, Carolyn Moore, Sue Latham, and Patty Smith) has arranged many events, including the weekly coffee club, to connect our members through conversations, learning opportunities, fun road trips, parties, and much more.

As Ann announced at the last meeting, the committee has been thinking hard about creating a mix of social events that our working members and those who don't drive at night can easily attend, like the once-a-month Movie Sunday (see column on the right for the March events calendar.)

We're also encouraging all of you whose needs and passions aren't currently being met to start your own group.
With MeetUpas a communications tool, this is really easy and far from "cyber magic."

The only requirement is that you host and manage the group that you start!

So, if you're a walker get a group of like-minded members together and choose your own pace and hiking terrain. Interested in the Classics,  Quantum Physics, opera, baking, cooking? ... the list is endless!

For those of you who don't want to become quite so proactive, the Social Groups Committee has planned at least one-often more- events for each month of 2015.

Here a sneak preview for the next four months:

March 7 - Tour of the Scottish Rite Temple

April 22 - Ojo Caliente

May 27 - Cooking Class with Sue

June 26 - Tour of the vaults at the School of Advanced Research

The coffee club will continue but will occasionally be replaced by other gatherings.

The easiest way to stay tuned to all events is through the MeetUp site or our webpage. If you haven't signed up for MeetUp yet, please do so now! It's easy, free, and your information is safe and can only be accessed by members.

Quick Update:
Community Involvement

Members of the community involvement task force are busy working on ideas how community involvement (as presented at the January meeting) can become a reality for our chapter. At this stage the task force is mainly gathering information about what services and organizations are available  in Santa Fe and, based on that information, where we might best provide volunteer opportunities that impact both TTN and the organization served. We'll keep you posted as things develop.
