As the Gospel Center Rescue Mission (GCRM) celebrates their 75th Anniversary, they are also celebrating the appointment of their new CEO, Loren Geiger. She has more than 15 years experience in business development and management as well as an extensive background in guiding, developing and empowering individuals to realize their potential through health and healing through educational retreats, seminars, individual guidance and the grace of love of Jesus Christ. Over the past 10 years, Loren and her husband have also enjoyed seeing marriages/relationships renewed through facilitating marriage retreats, which focus on relationship building and communication. Loren also founded The School of Success in Lodi to aid in the personal growth of children that are struggling with academic, emotional, and behavioral issues. She has an educational background in theology and counseling and is an active volunteer to the homeless community, tending to their emotional and physical needs.

For 75 years the GCRM has been ministering to the homeless and addicted in San Joaquin County by presenting the opportunity for spiritual, physical and emotional restoration and recovery through the love of Jesus Christ. On January 1, 2015, the board of directors and staff of GCRM enacted a three-year strategic plan to prepare for the next 75 years of restoring lives. To celebrate the 75th Anniversary, GCRM will be sponsoring several exciting events throughout the year, from now until April 8, 2016, when they will celebrate with their official Gala Anniversary Event at the Stockton Golf and Country Club. You can visit their website at www.gcrms.org for up-to-date information and dates regarding the 2015/2016 events schedule.

Currently the Gospel Center Rescue Mission has a number of programs focused on serving the homeless and addicted in our community. The New Life Program (NLP) is a residential program that focuses on men and women as a whole person, including spiritual aspects, family, community and environment that will affect a long-term lifestyle change. The entire program takes 3 years, which helps the individuals re-enter their community through counseling, education (associates degree), work, chapel and much more. The Respite Program is a Medical Respite facility that provides 24-hour shelter beds for people who are too well to be in the hospital, but too sick to recuperate on the streets. Some of the other programs offered by the Gospel Center Rescue Mission are Emergency Lodging, New Hope Family Shelter, Representative Payee, Gleason House Medical Clinic and more.

THE HISTORY
A mutual concern for the many homeless men on the streets of Stockton brought a group of people together in the home of Dr. and Mrs. Petersen at 1225 N. Hunter in Stockton on Saturday, September 16, 1939. The Stockton Gospel Center began in the late hours of that evening, incorporating as a non-profit on Tuesday, April 9, 1940.
