LAKE ERIE CONFERENCE
October 20-22, 2015

A total of 57 people attended our conference held at the Holiday Inn Express in Port Clinton OH, including nine pastors' wives. The theme of our conference this year was "Theological Reflections on Bioethics" led by the Rev. Dr. Gilbert Meilaender.

Dr. Meilaender is the Senior Research Professor at Valparaiso University and was the Ramsey Fellow at Notre Dame Center for Ethics and Culture during the 2014-15 academic year. He is well known and respected for his work in the field of Christian ethics, having written many articles and books in the field. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Hastings Center and was a member of the President's Council on Bioethics from 2002 to 2009.

His presentations covered - Theological Problems on Bioethics: Problems and Possibilities.

  • Part II Care at the End of Life
  • Part III Bioethics and the Public Square
  • Questions and Answers
It was a fascinating and timely topic to be faced by the church.

We also enjoyed a Bible study in 1 Peter, fellowship, worship, and some great evenings at two local restaurants rounded out our time together.

Our worship offerings went to buy six water filters to be taken to the South Sudan by one of our members to help people in need of clean drinking water.

Continued prayers for Rev. Dale Kaster of the LCMS Office of International Mission. He has returned to the United States after being hospitalized in Germany with an embolism and malaria. He is in Florida for further treatment.

C ongratulations and God's blessings to Joshua and Jennifer Moldenhauer. They just welcomed a new son, Matthew Philip Moldenhauer. Mother and child are doing well. Joshua is the pastor of Grace in Oberlin, Ohio.
