Dear YC Families,
Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year at York Catholic High School. It is the most exciting feeling for the faculty and staff to have the students fill the hallways on the first day of school. We have spent the last three days in retreat and preparation for the school year and I am confident it is going to be an amazing year.
The Student Council leadership has partnered with the faculty and staff to lead our community in this year's theme, "Catch Our Irish Spirit." There are so many exciting things happening this year for all of us to look forward to. First, we have several new teachers in the building who are already embracing the Spirit of YC. Pictured left to right are Phillip Autrey (Math), Melissa Weisser (Math), Melissa Bailey (Foreign Language/AAC), Sarah McShane (LIU Guidance Counselor-7th & 8th Grade), Lauren Shuleski (English/AAC), Kathy Becker (Art Substitute), Nicole Ivovich (International Student Center), Brian Gilbert (Science), not pictured Kathy Linder (LIU Math & Reading Specialist).
We are introducing the Virtual High School program this year where we will be offering College Prep and AP Statistics online. As we pilot this program, we look forward to other elective opportunities available in the years to come. We are also looking forward to our visit from the Excellence by Design Accreditation Team of the Middle States Association. Our community has spent the last year in preparation for this visit, including the important feedback we received from many of you in last year's survey. More information regarding this important visit will be forthcoming.
Finally, we are offering a Lunchtime Point of Sale program this year for cafeteria food purchases. Information regarding this program can be found below. It will also be sent home in your student's back to school packet on their first day of school. Please be sure you have deposited money in the account or send your child with cash if they wish to purchase lunch in our cafeteria.
As always, we are grateful for your partnership in the faith-filled education of your children. May God bless all of you as we enter this exciting school year.
Sincerely,
Katie Seufert '96
